High-Speed Turns & Anchor Test – $13B New Supercarrier John F. Kennedy Acceptance Trials

The U.S. Navy’s Pre-Commissioning Unit John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) conducted Acceptance Trials from August 12 to 15, 2026, including precision anchoring testing and high-speed turns testing to evaluate the carrier’s systems at sea. Acceptance Trials are sailor-led tests conducted to demonstrate that the ship has been built in accordance with contract specifications and that the crew has received sufficient training to carry out sea-based operations. The aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy is scheduled to be commissioned in March 2027.

  1. i really hope the whole world understands the futility of armed conflict ,if we put these skills and resources into helping people instead of murdering people imagine what our species could achieve… we're on one rock hurtling through space together… central governments have been infiltrated by for profit for conflict elite groups… the ordinary folk shouldn't and many don't fall for it, refusing to swap agency and decent behaviour to "legal" behaviour usually cruel for a money reward from a government agency worldwide… please operate that equipment for saving lives and helping people in trouble regardless of their creed, its nice to see such a multiracial group operating some very complex and dangerous equipment with such teamwork its always impressive, so be good, do good… don't end up in the Hague and be safe, remember its kindness that made us civilised in the first place, before religion before money before governments ….

  2. $13 billion for a single aircraft carrier is an incredible investment. But the real question is whether supercarriers will remain dominant in an era of hypersonic and long-range anti-ship missiles. What do you think — are carriers still the kings of the sea, or are they becoming too vulnerable?

  3. I was on the PCU George Washington in 1992 when they were performing those tests. Our squadron was the airwing onboard. When we got back to Norfolk, it was then, the USS George Washington CVN-73. Those tests were wild!!!
