rogue seemed weird in this episode. I felt that she wanted to get remy back, but she was essentially resigned to not getting him and still going through the motions.
Is the extent of modern stories just love conquers all? Is that the only commentary writers can give us? Did you like Rose Tico coming in to imprison Apocalypse once again, not actually having dealt with him? Did you like the part where Beau De Mayo himself killed Kurt? Then, nothing to explain why Val’s arc completely changed from Magneto was right to imprisoning mutants to “save them from themselves” and instead, have mystique take over afterward? Wut? Kurt’s scene was just Black Widow and Hawkeye from End Game all over again. No Onslaught, and it’s no longer believable at all that Charles is somehow perverted by it, when he became Rose Tico in the episode, but then again, season 2 got so dumb, maybe just the appearance of the suits is enough to the writers to suggest he is dark…
I said the second this show jumped the shark, and I stand by it. This season sucked. Was incredibly rushed, Apocalypse was barely an inconvenience. Morrison outfits still in play, rather than a temp dark era, born of a crossing the line narrative. That’s also lame. Next season will probably be as empty as Creed = Trump with his make america great again sentinels. This show is done. I cant anymore. It literally got as bad as the Star Wars sequels. That’s pretty bad, dunno what else to say.

Her will found his, and they reconnected, but there’s a price to pay. Rogue wanted to touch him, but he was already a dead man. The show show gave them both the happiness they deserved, but it was the sadness they didn’t expect.
That touch scared me it was so dark she knows there's nothing there – heart breaking. Using Belladonna the ex though thats harsh 😂 – Xternal and her power over Apocalypse makes so much sense now and why Kang said what he did.
14:20 the flying motorcycle just felt like the Genosian military sky cycles that pelt you in a couple levels in X-Men Mutant Apocalypse the SNES game.
Probably the most direct X-men point of reference even if they don't look as boxy and military as the Capcom (Jim Lee era) design.
But it also is reminiscent of Lobo's cycle popularized in Superman STAS, and Superboy's Vtol cycle from the Man of Steel Kenner comic style toyline.
Other things came to mind:
Toybiz's Ghostriders toyline more ground based biker gang theme going on.
Gargoyles had a motercycle toy with crazy front end. Kenner didn't have a toyline without a motorcycle in it. Even Jurassic park/Congo.Hell, even WaterWorld used water skis like motercycles lol.
Playmates Toys Skeleton Warriors had Sky Cycles!
So it was just a very mid 90s thing to do. Trenchcoats went with motercycles, especially flying ones like PB&J and banana.
Question: Can Rogue and Gambit be Apocalypse parents? He do have Rogues strength and Gambit eyes and tenacity.
See the problem here is they have all these great ideas but they’re just cramming it in one episode either you have to make the episodes longer to give it time to breathe or just make more episodes because the 10 episode format does not work for this show and it really shows you brought back gambit as one of the four Horsemen gambit and you barely explore that and at the end he just goes back to being regular gambit that needed to be at least three episodes if you ask me.
And yes that knightcrawler scene was crazy imagine that in the mcu
I've watched the episode about 4 times now. Im thinking the play is Rogue not Gambit. I believe Apocalypse could have stopped Rogue but didn't, why not? Rogue can absorbs powers. So my conclusion is that Apocalypse will use Rogue for that purpose. His end game idk

Its so interesting how some are saying that Jean was the villain and went too far: I think what they’re doing with Jean Grey is slowly showing us how someone like her could eventually become the Dark Phoenix, especially because she’s still so young and already dealing with an unbelievable amount of power. Most of us go through that “I’m pissed off with the world” phase at some point, but imagine going through it while being an Omega-level telepath who can hear what everyone around you is really thinking. Add being feared, controlled, or even held prisoner because of your abilities, and it becomes much easier to understand how resentment toward ordinary people could start building. Eventually, you might start thinking, “You’re afraid of me, you’re trying to control me, and you don’t even understand the kind of power I have.” I think they’re slowly doing the same thing with the other mutants by showing why people would realistically be terrified of them. Storm may eventually be capable of controlling weather on a planetary scale, Iceman is an Omega-level mutant, and Beast is incredibly strong, fast, agile, and also possesses a genius-level intellect. Even when these characters are trying to do the right thing, their abilities alone would make governments and ordinary people nervous. That’s why I think the story may gradually push audiences toward understanding the idea that “Magneto was right,” even if his methods are extreme. Professor X can preach restraint and responsibility, but when you’re young, angry, frightened, and constantly being told that other people have the right to control you, that philosophy becomes much harder to follow. Jean’s youth may be especially important because they’re showing how someone with almost godlike power could realistically lose empathy when the world keeps giving her reasons to hate it. To me its like in reality I think we all go though the "I am pissed off with the world" phase – so imaging being an omega level mutant going though that phase – nightmare.
We could also say that Professor X waits until after Gambit kills the X-Ternal before making his move. That could be a plot device but if it's intentional, that's interesting.
Doesnt Cable know that Havok is Scotts brother and his uncle? I get he barley talks to his Dad/Scott but to not recognize him will be interesting

this could be just me but I feel like the arc in which gambit is still controlled by apocalypse should've laster a lot more than one episode, we kinda deserved a stretched battle where a lot of emotions are laid and broke down, man why did this seem rushed…
On review, I think this show has already done it's onslaught. Death appears to be a psionic mix of both gambit and apocalypse with a separate mind of its own from either entity. A piece of a character who most people thought had died. Especially considering the original plan to defeat onslaught was to remove Xavier's presence before they realised he could survive without him present. Death was defeated by the separation of gambit from the mix. The parallels are interesting and it's likely this shows way of giving something akin to beaus vision without fully committing.
I was wondering who Morph turned into during the fight and it was Earthquake of the Shi'ar imperial guard. Cool!
I’m going to pushback. This was fun to watch because it was X-men, but it was poorly executed.
In the original series, morphs story was stretched out over a long period of time. Imagine if that was done in one episode like this one was.
This felt like I did a speed run through a sonic stage.
Someone pointed out that jubilee thought they were dead and didn’t even seemed surprised when she ran into them. She just passed them a card.
I would’ve been fine if you sprinkle gambit into an episode here and there for a season or two until they get him back.
This episode doesn’t feel like we’re going into the season finale. It feels like the midpoint of the season. They need better pacing. They need to slow down. If last season was 10 episodes, they needed at least 10.
They need Beau back
I consider it a hostage situation with better lighting because even though Remy has a modicum of autonomy right now, its only a matter of time until Apocalypse regains control and its permanent, like Beast said. It also feels like something is gonna happen that will lead to a form of victory for the X-Men though because, once again, Beast's phrase of playing a poor hand well might happen, but then again, that could also mean the poor hand they had during their rescue of Remy leading to them having just enough to get Remy back, but only barely. I can't wait to see what happens next. With Kurt and how he steamrolled the team, I was just sitting in pure astonishment at how crazy he was. With Xavier, I'm almost certain, especially now that you've brought it up that it has been twice since he's been defeated in his own playground, I am almost certain that the third time will be the breaking point, especially if you follow the rule of three that most screenwriters follow. He has been holding back and it has not ended in him becoming victorious. Something will give and lead to his breaking point, mentally and emotionally.
Love your channel. Being a comic nerd from the early days I love the detail and analytical aspect of this channel! Did anybody notice that nightcrawlers hand was “technically “ not a dead man’s hand? I tried to research what constitutes a dead man’s hand and there is some slight variation but the most consistent consensus is : Ace spades, Ace of Clubs, 8 spades, 8 clubs and some random last card…Kurt has an Ace of spades and an Ace of clubs but it is red…was it supposed to be an Ace of hearts or clubs that just was given the wrong color? I wonder if the producers of the show intentionally put that “ mistake “ in there to show Remy is not technically dead? Maybe I’m over analyzing but this seems to be a safe space to do this. lol. Either way this was a great show and I like the analogy of Rogue touching Remys hand not triggering her powers because it’s a dead man’s hand but is it really? Again love your platform.

Ugh, I am not liking the pacing for season two after episode 4. Now I did like the Nightcrawler parts of the Strange land episode but the rest of it is sort of just popcorn fun and not terribly deep. Yes season one had some side quests like Motendo but why not flesh this out more to a full 10 episodes. Why 9 episodes when we only on season 2? Is the show dying already? lol Feel like they hitting us with shock and awe to distract from weak writing. Btw everyone just speaking english the ancient egypt was also weird…Maybe I missed something. Without Beau and with a what if writer Matthew Chauncey, he simply cannot helm this ship. What if is a TERRIBLE show. SO my worst fear is it keeps going to crap and we don't get onslaught and they mention uh Destiny and Mystique for season 3? Why cause two woman have a baby nightcrawler together? Of all the things to hype this was not on my list.

What's the deal with the crystal? Remy/Apocalypse pulls it out of the External-it looks like he killed her-and then put it into Rogue. Why? It seemed to do nothing to Rogue, unless that's why she can touch Remy? She didn't turn into a zombie thingy. This seems important, but maybe not.
Also, didn't Jubilee think the other Xmen were dead? I feel like something is missing.
But…..Why??? Why did Apocalypse transfer his essence to Remy? I know he was tired of the restoration and sleep he would have to go through. But after what he did to Magneto, we needed another big fight between Apocalypse and The X-Men. The whole season has built to a big showdown and with him in Gambit's body…that seems like we won't he the fight we want
This season just isn't hitting for me. It just feels like they're cramming too much and moving too fast. I shouldn't need great analysis like this to FEEL something, you know?

The final showdown is between Cable and Apacolypse. I believe Cable is going use his telepathy to enter Gambit 's body/ mind. I think that's how that prophecy about him ending Apacolypse will happen. The showed us a clue with that emergency airplane save. I also think there will be a revelation of Mystique whereas she is the blonde woman…her name escapes me at the moment. I think Mystique could be trying to get payback for the death of Magneto.

Tarot Gambit just delivers on so many levels. He’s slick, dangerous, memorable. Even if we only get that one episode of him it was a heckuva ride.
I’d like to believe something is going on with Charles but I think they just don’t let his powers work so the plot can happen. Just like Rogue forgot she could absorb En Saba Nur and Kurt forgot he could teleport him more than 10 feet and Exodus forgot he could use telekinesis.
I love a good Gambit story and felt like this episode was rushed. I would have loved to see more of Gambit interacting with the Xternal more before stealing her heart, specifically, Apocalypse repeating something he only said to her so she knows he's inside of Remy before he kills her. We're essentially telling two love stories, a new chapter for one and the full-circle ending of another. Nightcrawler's 2-piece special for the team was amazing! It was a great contrast from last episode's diplomatic Kurt. The progression of Xavier's decline has been interesting to watch. His grief and guilt are definitely opening the door for Onslaught. He's gets an upgraded Cerebra and get can't Apocalypse out of Remy while ol school Xavier trapped Carol Danvers in Rogue for how long … just saying, we're seeing how despite his ability to help others work through similar feelings, he's unable to help himself.
Am I the only confused as to how Rogue got into the mental space to pull Gambit out? She wasn't touching him, yet came out of nowhere to save Remy

I’m not sure this series has ever shown Xavier as powerful as his comics counterpoint. Even in the original series he was portrayed as losing mind battles fairly frequently.

Don't know why but I've got a feeling Valerie Cooper is Mystique playing everyone and playing a long game. It did happen in the comics if I remember correctly and maybe she got that tarot card from Destiny. Could definitely be wrong but it is bizarre how weirdly absent Mystique is. And maybe the change happened between s1 and 2.
