Keying his radio so his four-ship flight could share the sport, he declared, “Boys, we walk this one home like a stray dog.” What he didn’t know is that the “relic” he was crowding was a Viper—a jet designed with no magic, just a single engine and a bite that has spent fifty years ruining the days of faster, heavier airplanes. The F-16 didn’t flinch or dive for home; it rolled hard, straight into him, instantly dragging a forty-mile radar fight down to a thirty-foot intercept. What follows is less an intercept than a total breakdown: Orlov’s wingmen scatter in a panic, one overshooting, one bleeding all his speed, and the last nearly colliding with his leader. Inside the Viper, a seasoned instructor calmly calls every panic-move Orlov makes before he even pulls the stick, watching a young flyer try to write a story that always ends the same way. The American doesn’t shoot; he does something far worse, sliding up onto Orlov’s wing and executing a slow, lazy victory roll entirely around the multi-million-ruble fighter. Russians don’t call the SU 35 a 5th or even a 4.5 gen fighter… the know it’s a 4th gen fighter and they certainly DON”T call it a “stealth” fighter.. Dumb way to describe this story.

Without a doubt the United States has some the best trained Aviators in the world. All the maneuvers and techniques have been studied and passed down by some of the best fighter pilots in our history of combat aviation. The United States started aviation. It's like today with the manuel transmission compared to the dual clutch paddle shift. Yes the dual clutch can shift faster than the manuel shift but as the statement made you can't continue fly in a straight line and survive. Same in driving, you can race in a straight line and win in quarter Mike race but let's see how it works out in a road course with twist and turns for 50 or 100 laps. That's racing, drag racing only gives you a very small piece of the performance of a car. Also it's about the driver, who's behind the wheel. I'll stick to my old school gear box.
The F-16 still has some tricks up its sleeve but we are generations ahead of that now.
Sims US jets are much slower than enemy's jets. I would build our jets are much faster than enemy's jets so we can do things we wanted.
Newer does not mean better. Take away the stealth capabilities from 5th gen fighters and the F-16 would do just fine against them. It's not old, it was ahead of its time when built.

The F-16 was also called the Electric Plane because even '74 it was fly by wire. It is also very much made for fights other than close in knife fights. It has impressive BVR reach with the AIM-120D missile. Modern variants also have excellent radar. This is also a very fast airplane capable of regaining or building speed quickly. It was a brilliant idea being significantly cheaper than the F-15. We built lots of them and continue to build them today for a reason. And what a look it has! Nothing looks like an F-16 although I guess the Chinese J10 is a sincerely flattering imitation. Nowhere near as graceful and cool looking.
USAF 1986-2007 I was at Misawa when they first brought in two squadrons of the Fighting Falcons. You could see the water being sucked out of the tarmac beneath the intake and feel the cement vibrate as they took off
I think you were talking about a slow turning fight? The F-16 will out turn almost everything if it can keep at its corner speed of 450 Knots. The F/A-18 will out turn almost everything in a slow fight. If you get in a fight against it down around 200 to 220 knots or so you will very quickly find his nose pointing at you to take the shot. It has unusually good nose authority at slow speeds.
FYI, C-130s — CARGO PLANES — routinely out-perform F-16s.
The su 35 could absolutely take on the f16. It’s a pilots race.
The number of flight hours an average USAF, USN or USMC pilot gets in a year is about what an entire Russian squadron shares in that same time

Hm, Russian pilots actually respect the F-16 and consider it a fourth-generation fighter since it's a 4th-gen fighter capable of carrying Russian missiles. Even if it struggles with the weight of them, that's still good. And vice versa, the US praises its maneuverability.

America has training where they use F16s and it can mimic any other plane it wants they have computer program thats collected data over decades of Russian planes this program in the planes brain can be activated anytime can be mig 29 or mig 21 or mig 25 whenever it wants
