This is so tremendously tragic for all involved.
These type of defenses are rarely successful, but I don't think there is any chance she is found to have been of sound mind when she did this. Get her help. Just trying to live with her actions is going to be very difficult.
I don't get it. Isn't she the bad guy?
If we can't understand postpartum psychosis well enough to understand it in a court of law, how are we going to recognize it in the women around us and prevent these tragedies from happening? If she had been appropriately diagnosed and cared for, we wouldn't be here.
