Watch this superconductor hover around in mid-air!



So today, instead of floating a magnet on top of a superconductor, I’m going to show what happens if I do it the other way around. For this one, I’m using a much bigger superconductor, and I’m again, cooling it with some liquid nitrogen. Now that it’s super cold, I can drop it onto a little magnet track that I made. It actually stays on the track, and if I push it, it’s able to move without falling off.

  1. I remember reading an article on this experiment and super conductors many years ago when the scientists won the Nobel prize. Many years later we did this same experiment in our university physics class. Now so common it's a youtube video. 😂 l love your variation and take on it!

  2. Magnetism is really just electrical charge distorted by relativity. 🤷‍♂️ so why is it even surprising? You dont even need quantum effects to explain it (though you can explain it that way) but you really only need plain old simple relativity 😂
