The new 12-inch Marvel Legends X-Men ’97 Apocalypse is a Hasbro Pulse made-to-order exclusive — but is this massive $120 Marvel Legends figure actually worth the price?
In this comprehensive early review, I go far beyond a standard unboxing to test the new 12-inch Marvel Legends X-Men ’97 Apocalypse from every angle.
At $120 USD, this Apocalypse costs the equivalent of at least four standard Marvel Legends figures. So how much more figure are we actually getting for that money?
I compare the new 12-inch X-Men ’97 Apocalypse against the Marvel Legends Retro Apocalypse, Marvel Legends Build-A-Figure Apocalypse, Age of Apocalypse, Marvel Select Apocalypse, and other versions from my collection.
I also test the scale against 6-inch Marvel Legends, 1/12 MAFEX, 7-inch Marvel Select, the HasLab Sentinel, Cable, Archangel, Psylocke, Magneto, Gambit, Wolverine, Hulk and the X-Men ’97 team.
But the biggest question is whether Hasbro has created the definitive X-Men ’97 Apocalypse.
This review covers:

The new Apocalypse includes a massive shape-shifting arsenal inspired by his appearances in X-Men ’97 Season 2, making this much more than simply a scaled-up version of the Marvel Legends Retro Apocalypse.
Is the 12-inch Marvel Legends X-Men ’97 Apocalypse the ultimate Apocalypse centerpiece, or is $120 simply too much for an oversized Marvel Legends figure?

Thanks for this review! I realize im going to cancel my order. Ive slowed down on collecting legends this year. And at $120 i feel i dont need it. He is awesome though.
I need X-Men97 Psylocke
Those shoulders are really disappointing, and I hate how they did the cables, but other than that, I'm happy with him.
So glad he had a waist swivel and a calf joint. If only he had a toe joint
I hope Mondo does this figure.
I lost my damn job and had to cancel my preorder. That hurt more than losing my job 😭
As a MvC fan… yeah im just gonna wait until they remake the 12in version with XM/MSH vs SF colors. A regular size "gamerverse" Apoc can probably still be made for a 2 pack (possibly a yellow/green/brown Rouge as MvC2's default colors are green/light blue/green).
This almost serves as a "gamerverse/Marvel VS. Capcom" figure of Apocalypse
The classic blue Apocalypse would be dope. I like the classic blue since his appearance in blue version have a lot of details that makes Apocalypse actually looks like he’s wearing a Celestial armor. This one base on the animated series looks plain to me.
17:52 5. don't have a lot of xmen figs. But the figure looks great honestly, im happy for xmen fans. Glad the elbows can move to 90°. Great review bro!!
For this price, i expected much more! Still is a good figure….
Good thing I waited for a new release of Apocalypse instead of buying the others.. and hasbro provided this ❤
Literal child's toy being sold to adults at a 100% markup. Great job 👏
Yes it is worth it… is why I bought it.
glad to see it has a boot cut, thank goodness, but no ratchet double jointed knees…yikes…
He doesnt actually have a waist swivel, its another ball joint
I don't have an Apocalypse so this will actually be my first. I like the scale of it and the options for "hands." Thanks for the thorough coverage of it.
Obrigado, achei a analise muito boa !!!! Brasileiro aqui !
Great review
I would totally buy it, but these bastards went exclusive and because I'm from ARgentina, I can´t buy it and I saw that in ebay it was like 300 dollars. Come on!
Sucks about the shield
Looking forward to getting mine in hand. This is no doubt going to be my definitive Apocalypse.
Looks good but it still looks like an oversized marvel legends. Some shading could have been good, there is paint just in the heads which look good, also the neck joint is almost useless of how seated in it is. It looks good but he doesn't look very impressive
Looks good overall, cannot debate the price point as most stuff now a days are expensive. They should at least pack in a base. I wish someone starts doing extra accessory kit for extra heads and weapons.
What would make such price point fit – when they add extra paint all over, change the joints on elbows and knees to better mafex or storm arena type designs.
$120 🤑🤑🤑
IS THIS A LIMITED ADDITION?
Next year we getting this figure in blue I'm sure
I missed out the ToyBiz one many years ago, so definitely getting this!
I want to see more exclusives like this that are not exaggerated big
Yes, very nice, a great buy! I got the retro and use 4inch line to fight him with.
Yo this thing should not be shipping!! I’m not made of money 😭
I pre ordered. When can I expect it do you think?
Wow, this is gonna go down as the best Apacolpyse figure ever made.
Amazing review as always
Should've had single jointed arms since they only bend 90° anyway. Toe articulation is a must for big figures, major loss. Still, great vid and figure
Chunk boy! can't wait to get mine 👍👍👍 I started saving for him when he was announced and even sold my retro Apocalypse to fast track the savings, I'm kinda over the $120 at the moment, so that's great. I mostly collect the comics line but I think this guy would blend alright. Looks like the waist is also on ball joints, nice!
The head swaps were hilarious, he looked like he got cursed by a witch doctor ala Beetlejuice. The BAF Apocalypse is still my favorite though – the hunting for the parts pre pandemic was just a dif experience. I just buy online nowadays.
This is the most Beautiful Apocalypse action figure I have ever seen
They did something different, in the promotional shots it seems to be articulated.. or is it just me
Appreciate the highly detailed review! Makes me even more excited for this guy!
I sold my apocalypse Baf for this
damn, a review 3 months before release. thats impressive.
