The one I kind of actually believe is about Yoona. The original visual, THE Korean beauty standard, is not Korean. Or not only Korean. There was a blind item a decade ago that a famous member of a kpop girl group was actually half Vietnamese on her mother’s side and her company were hiding it. This was speculated to be Yoona. It’s not something she’s ever talked about publicly so it’s not something that a lot of people are aware of but Yoona was raised by her father. Her mother walked out on the family when Yoona was a baby. So there’s nothing known about her mother. Yoona’s been famous in the entertainment industry for decades now and yet nothing about her mother or her mother’s family has ever come out? Probably more likely if they don’t live in her country. But the amount of silence about Yoona’s mother does suggest SM’s hiding this – I mean, it wasn’t until after Tiffany left SM that we found out the cause of her mother’s passing. But regardless, there are no predebut photos of Yoona in a hanbok. There is one of her in what looks like traditional Vietnamese clothing. Not to mention, Yoona’s vacationed quite a bit in Vietnam.
Yoona also LOVES Vietnamese food and it’s something that’s come up a few times that other SNSD members are aware of. When she guested on Yuri’s cooking show, she cooked Vietnamese food quite proficiently. She’s also given the same answer for years what her favourite food is. Any guesses what country it comes from? And the other SNSD members are also aware of her favourite food.
