Spain recently celebrated major national football triumphs, filling the streets with pride and national celebration. But beneath the patriotic atmosphere, what is the actual daily reality on the ground in the capital city of Madrid?
In this documentary, I went to explore Madrid’s backstreets alongside Fred the Bodyguard and the owner of Adrenaline Combatives to assess the safety and changing atmosphere of the city. While sitting at local terraces and dining outside, we were constantly approached and harassed by persistent beggars and aggressive street vendors demanding money.
Throughout the city center, you can also see how key squares and avenues are entirely taken over by informal street sellers operating in broad daylight.
What started as an investigation into local nightlife and street dynamics quickly escalated into a volatile situation. While filming in high-density areas, we were confronted by hostile groups demanding we stop recording, leading to direct threats and an attack where rocks were thrown in our direction. From shady districts to constant tension on the streets, this is an unfiltered, ground-level look at Madrid today.

De echte stad van de zakkenrollers is toch echt Benidorm. De koffers worden al onder je reet vandaan gestolen bij aankomst, telefoons worden uit je klauwen gegrist, berovingen door huggermuggers en peamen, opdringerige drugsdealers en tal van scams en ook met geweld. Niet echt een veilige bestemming voor families en oudere overwinteraars in skyscraper city.
