2027 Grand Sport X: The Porsche-ification of Corvette

The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport and Grand Sport X have arrived, and they represent more than just new trim levels—they signal the “Porschification” of the entire Corvette hierarchy.

From the new LS6 engine with its 13:1 compression to the tech-heavy AWD Hybrid Grand Sport X, Chevrolet is officially following the Porsche 911 blueprint.

In this deep dive, we break down the engineering of the new intake and exhaust systems, the death of the E-Ray, and why the “Great Corvette Realignment” is the most significant shift in the car’s history.

  1. It's amazing to me how seldom I hear power-to-weight ratio discussed, even when power and weight are specifically being compared. The single most meaningful stat is power-to-weight, especially in this electric/hybrid/ICE era, where power and weight vary wildly among comparable cars.

  2. Ultimate question: With the refresh will all of these models immediately carry over to the C9?

Or will they do a reset & do the whole ladder/ tree climb in models.

We know the GS is traditionally a rarity of models, now that they have combined the greatest street version, the E Ray, into the Grand Sport name plate, how do they keep that AWD awesomeness of the E Ray/GSX moving forward now that they have ostracized the ERay nameplate without trivializing the Grand Sport’s?

They have boxed themselves into quite a conundrum of a model corner, IMO, that without another name change, is not easily resolved, nor, given the amount of R&D that went into development of the through-road hybridization, can simply be brushed aside.

Meaning it must, & will return, in some form, under some mysterious nameplate yet to be known.

How long will that ultimate street model be into production of the C9? 1 year? 2 years?

Will they evolve the electric drivetrain further as they did after the ZR1X?

Once I saw the ZR1X was using an upgraded motor & axles K immediately said that will be the new standard. It only makes sense.

They had already worked out the development & implementation of the stronger motor in the ZR1X, so why continue production of 2 separate motors when you can incorporate one in both applications, improving the lower models along with the flagship.

That will also carry to the touted ZO6X. Which will be absolutely awesome.

I have many predictions for the new C9. I’m excited to see if they come to pass.

  3. The grand Sport been around long before a zo6 existed so 06 six is a version of a grand sport not the other way around you love the z06
We are just buying engines with Aero variations like Porsches love it

  4. looks like the GS
x is the one to get all done up! Super fast and a daily driver!!! A bit faster than the Eray, thing is , is a hundred k plus worth it? Do you really need it? Only live once?

  5. what corvette really want to focus is on what they do best and start from there SLOWLY toward Porsche-ification road. Purist/Enthusiasts sought/lust for Simplicity ie. those no frill V-8 and the sound. Less the gadgetry the better beside will also save GM cost.

  6. What sucks its a 100 Grand!!! LOL, not even the upper middle class can justify the cost. Hey lets's wait 4 years and we can pick one up at Carmax for 50 grand.

  7. One of the many problems is that Chevy advertises/hypes options that are not available when yu want to order. Next is greedy dealers to love all the FREE youtuber hype videos.

  8. Not sure how you came to believe Chevy has porchified the Corvette. Also, the Grand Sport model was dusted off for the C6 lineup, fairly certain that it wasn't "62 years" in the making.

  9. Speak for yourself, bubba. Anyone who actually cares and doesn't get drawn in by cute words and sales pitches saw it coming 2 years ago, lol… This is hard to watch..
