Companies that hired H-1B workers are in big trouble.
A new Trump executive order aims to crack down on companies that lay off Americans and immediately hire H-1B workers.
If you’re in tech, cloud, data, or engineering, or leading a business in these fields, this new scrutiny hits home.
America has a chronic shortage of AI talent, but companies leveraging the H-1B pipeline will now face intense investigation.
And don’t think this is just politics; AI is now responsible for at least 25% of layoffs in 2024, and that figure is only set to rise.

Finally, someone cares for American workers.
one of the worse is SAP -especially their cloud unit -ECS
Administration should put a PAUSE on new H1B completely….that would actually reduced pressure even on H1B already here and US citizens.
These so called H1B experts should be used to train citizens
As this man said those companies are in lot of problem now officially
There are a lot of more American IT companies who are using H1B visas to hire to replace American workers as you just mentioned Oracle. Also a lot of IT companies have already started to outsource the jobs to India.
Investigate all companies that choose hb1 visa
There is no shortage of American labor, particularly in tech today. Tech companies have been laying off American workers for at least 2 years now. Companies like Microsoft need to hire Americans for American jobs.
Director in AI application for fortune 500 company here. Born n brought up in India, got naturalized just in time to vote for Trump in 2024. Why? Because the other side is full of jihadis, commies, and wokies. And the US is a 1 party system masquerading as 2 party. It is what it is.
H1B system is yet another tactic of the deep state to play good cop, bad cop. Never solve the issue, keep people hooked on the issue for votes in every election cycle.
The intention is to extract high taxes from H1B, they pay into social security/ medicare, and wont see a dime of it. Their path to greencard is almost done. You become a resident for tax purposes after 5 years.
The legal teams get $ by never scraping the whole H1B if it is so terrible, the universities keep getting cheap MS, PhD, and post docs to help professors pump out grants, where indians / chinese students are the cheap researchers, with no leverage. You cannot get a job in industry unless you graduate. The advisor knows that and ensures you will graduate in STEM unless you fulfill every single moving goal post they have.
The system is designed to be kept broken, it is not the bug, it is the feature.
I am hiring people in AI / data roles. Half are expected to be hired offshore where bill rate is 1/3rd. India is a top choice but there are others too in South / central America.
Hiring offshore for core development role is extremely hard. But definitely possible. I think as squeeze is put on H1B, more and more offshore hiring will increase.
Unless you put a condition on these companies that they can offshore all they want, but they cannot sell in American market to make profit of Americans, nothing will change.
But the US government is puppet of the higest bidder like an high end escort. Nothing will change.
Americans can 100% do every job in industry. You might have to hire aggressively as contractors, and weed out fast. But it is possible. Your local state schools will have good new hires. But HR, and leadership are pathetic. They all expect unicorns and hire these recruiting companies that lie about candidate potential, and weed out lot of good potential.
Longer i work i think even a bigger scam against Americans than h1b, is college itself.
It is 100% not needed. If you give me top high school math students, i can guide them on all free courses to take to become a competent data scientist, software engineering, etc…
But remember, if you have skills no H1B can stop you from progressing.
Like macho man said "….the cream rises to the top. Ooooo Yeahhhh"
Almost all of the big entrepreneurs USA have came through as H1B workers and then later build their own companies. These entrepeurs were not nobel prize winners or Phd holders with lots of citations, they were simply people with higher drive and 'American dream'. If you close your borders, you lose the biggest advantage USA had and USA will become average in every field in no time. Remember, you dont need to 'work', if your country is rich enough.
Currently majority of the H-1B holders are indians.
They need to get rid of the h1b visas for good!
THOSE COMPANIES NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN
Boomers were the worst generation to ever exist.
If Americans are really losing the job then u can stop H1B .. if Indians lose job here they have second chance to get job in india(lot outsourcing happening) But if American lose job they don’t have second choice
it has also inflated the cost of housing
I can build a professional/modern website for your company
this guy is all over the place.
I have seen thousands of Americans fired and replaced by India H1B's. I have been told that the people in many companies are well rewarded by how many Americans they can replace with H1B's from India.
Finally !
We should also penalize companies who outsource
Companies fire in U.S. but hiring in GDC India, not in U.S.
Indian offshore companies are not the ones to blame. It’s the American top trillions dollar companies who wants to use H1B or outsourcing their work to offshore like Vietnam and South America to blame. Understand the root cause to fix the problem not just mitigate the symptoms.
Didn't Elon Musk say Americans are too stupid for the jobs? They got to import smarter, foreign workers to get the work done.
The majority of the companies fire American workers and offshore the work.
Of course the administration should go after companies the big guys who are still misusing H1b and employing them wrongly….People going after small fries and people working on H1b visa is a pathetic way to respond to this issue. In America it is normal practice to harp on any issue but then avoid hitting the center of gravity…..drug issue is another one..you cannot stop user of drugs….big hotels, pubs, the stars using them….then you start saying the mexicans are the ones to blame …if you can stop the consumption the delivery boys will have consume the food themselves…
Basically new contracts for H1B the employee should negotiate a 2 month notice. So employers can no longer simply let them go via a phone call but would give them 2 months or a relocation period to help relocate. The onus would be on the company at this point so that would be easy enough to bypass the government
Many are now building their new operations in India and other country’s where their workers were coming from!Facebook for 1!Usual shoot yourself in the foot policy!
Nah, not happening 😂 and you’re misrepresenting the program
I'm in IT. To add insult to injury, many in my industry have false documents from India. I big problem is one of their compatriots gets in top management and they begin the shenanigans of hiring mainly their countrymen. They give the interview questions to them during the Interview process, once hired, they get compatriots in the company to train on the job this new hire.
H-1B visas break the social contract between American workers, colleges, and corporations. I want to see them all gone! If the government insists on allowing them to continue, then the government needs to for every American who is affected to go back to college for retraining. That would be the right thing to do.
Lot of Hard-Working Talented Americans looking for jobs. H1Bs are not needed. The reason companies hire H1B long time ago becoz of the talents. However, nowadays, it's not about talents but becoz of CHEAP labour and for sure, they won't complain . . . lol jk
In 2008 I was nearing the end of a contract for The Hartford insurance company. The project was a multi year 1.3 billion dollar project to upgrade all of their systems. When they said the federal government bailed out a major Fortune 100 company, I suspect it was The Hartford. When that financial crisis hit the CEO was let go, with a nice golden parachute. Employees that had 25 years or more qualified for an 80% pension. They made a decision that any with less than 22 years would be converted to a 401 K and anyone with 23 years or more would still qualify for the pension after 25 years or if they already reached it. THOUSANDS of people quit because The Hartford's pay wasn't competitive but you had great insurance benefits and that 80% pension. If you got hired out of college at 22, you could walk away at 47 with the 80% pension and then go get another job. The big one is I watched an org chart showing at least 3,000 Hartford employees go from 80/20 to contractors. My last year on the project it was about 20/80 employees to contractors. Of the 80 contractors 60 were H1B contractors.
I was working with an H1B and on a Monday. Told her I have an EDI file. She said she needed 3 days I said you have the full week. I caught the manager later yelling at her saying if she didn't have it done by end of day Tuesday he would fire her. Her Visa would be pulled and she would be deported. I had a huge argument. This is why they love H1B visas. It's the new slavery.

Sara Gonzales is exposing the visa frauds.
There are many reasons employers like H1Bs. They are talented – because of the way they are trained. But also due to high IQs. H1Bs typically have a several years of work experience – and less college than ABAs. Then there are the numbers, there are 20 H1Bs for every similarly talented ABA. H1Bs don't complain and take pride in their work when there is a challenge. They are enthusiastic. They see every assignment as a small project with a set of requirements – a beginning and an end. The H1Bs usually don't focus how their work impacts the bigger picture. Just their assignments. This makes them easy to manage. When a small project is completed their contract ends they can leave or move to another project. H1Bs are easy to terminate in the case that a company has to layoff personnel when times are tough. H1Bs don't have the politically correct communication behaviors – and self entitlements – of ABAs. Since H1Bs live within their own set of colleagues there are fewer security risks to proprietary knowledge. (In fact their reluctance to share information could be viewed as a negative among ABAs.) NOW, I'd love to see more ABAs get work – its bad that US graduates struggle to find work – but Universities aren't preparing students. The subjects in college don't match well to the work. Another thing. H1Bs are great team workers within their own colleagues. This makes it so they ramp up quickly (they have more work friends). And there is a badness that Indian consulting firms like Cognizant NEVER hire non Indian nationalities. It is what it is. But as far as employers are concerned – they don't care about that.
AI for answers only, not for creative work. What an important topic! good video, thank you
Utopia: All work will be now done by Citizens now.
Reality: more work to be done by overseas development centers.
I would challenge there being a "shortage of Ai talent." The amount of unemployed EXPERIENCED tech workers is staggering. I'm not talking about WebDev's, I'm talking everything from Data Analysts & Scientists – MLE & FDE's.
It goes beyond that they are becoming like the Mafia with their illegal schemes and rackets. They are using America like the corrupt businesses and politicians in India. That is the mentality. It’s not just H1 B, they lie on loan applications to buy massive lands and investment they have connections to fraud networks, attorneys, banks, accountants, builders
The employers will move the staff off shore – no H1B issues.
Nothing is going to change, It has been the same kind of news every new administration. This is quickly followed by large scale replacement with foreign labour.
They will work around this by shipping more jobs abroad.
Let me be very clear here….if the jobs and the professionals stop crossing the borders, then….your products will stop too. Think about it. Not everyone works in a software company in the USA. Most American jobs are outside AI and software. Remember that next time you get an itch to blame H1Bs for your policy failures.
We have zero shortages in tech, but we do have shortage of tech workers who will work for $30/hr.
I'm really happy about this situation. Now American companies will simply hire in India, which means more money flowing into the country and more taxes in the hands of the Indian government, so a good situation for us.
It’s funny how “Americans” don’t understand simple free market economics. No one is “stealing” your jobs. Companies are just trying to get the best value for money. It’s called “Capitalism”. Get over your entitlement my friend.
Now they'll outsource the entire department
You can't imagine the pressure it puts on the foreign employees. They are literally fighting for their lives at their offices so their families could keep afloat. This in turn raises the bar for everyone else. That includes all the Americans. In the silicon valley right now people are working 12 hour days 6 days a week for the same wages. Corps gonna be hiring even less if this keeps up. Its modern day slavery.
