Martin Luther King Jr. skipped two grades and started Morehouse College at 15. But at Crozer Theological Seminary his public speaking grades were a C+… then a C (his transcript is in the King Papers at Stanford).
He didn’t quit. By his final year he had straight A’s and graduated top of his class (valedictorian, 1951).
28 August 1963: about 250,000 people at the March on Washington. He was reading his prepared speech when gospel singer Mahalia Jackson called out: “Tell them about the dream, Martin!” He pushed his notes aside and said four words: “I have a dream.” A year later, at 35, he won the Nobel Peace Prize — the youngest winner up to then.
