People are obsessed with this BEAUTIFUL camera shot in football – but they’re wrong about what makes it so good. They think it’s 8k when really it’s broadcast embracing a tool that YouTubers have been using for years: bokeh.
Here’s some fun tech trivia for your Super Bowl weekend!

That's why I love Apple iPhones.
That’s egg all not football
I thought it's football..⚽😅
Faahhhh😄 it's football🏈
good GOD you really are BEAUTIFUL
Not football
That's called 'F-stop' and has been a part of photography since almost it's inception over a hundred years ago.
Also as someone who works in broadcasting, barely anything you see on your TV is actually 8k, 4k or even 2k.
In order for everyone to truly experience a higher resolution broadcasted unto their TV, it has to be shot in 8k, then the infrastructure has to be able to send 8k to the distributor which is often a bigger national network like (im not American) but I believe things like Comcast or Verizon. Then your TV also needs to be able to actually display it as 8k.
Fun fact, tv broadcasting is still in the process of fully updating to 1080 as it is. Even to this day and age the network I work for only just managed to upgrade 1 of their 2 channels to be 1080p and the other is still in 720p. Main reason is that it costs a LOT more bandwith when you go higher and that's often the threshold to keeping it lower.
Keep up the good work I am loving the science
I did some photography about 45 years ago and used the F-stop settings to manipulate the clarity of the background all the time, and photographers for many decades before me did it, too. In fact, I saw a photo from the 19th century where the photographer (I think it was a woman) had done that. Not new at all.
You look a lot like Hayley bayley
First of all it's not "Football" . Should have said American Football.
Need this in cricket😎
I dont understand, the shot at the end is clearly higher quality than at the beginning. You can see details in her skin and hair that arent in the earlier shots. Its not JUST a blurry background, even if that does make it look cinematic. The in-focus part is absolutely more detailed
No way that Aaron Donald shot is not from Madden
Totally mind-blowing that anyone could look at those shots and think the aesthetic of the shot has anything to do with the camera resolution. I was genuinely confused when you started explaining something so obvious.
Humans discover depth of field 😂😂😂
YouTube does ruin the quality a bit, on WiFi YouTube defaults to 1080p HD and 60 FPS. Why it really looks so good is the amazing camera work, color correction, and the out of focus backgrounds (bokeh blur)
too much money spent on tech used on mindless ball games, which made to entertain the masses and ignore the real issues. That's why we have the leader we have.
Little did I know I'll see zesty jason mamoa in 2025 😂
It does look like a video game though lol
YOU TUBERS INVENTED IT
Linear TV is the biggest bs. Here in Germany television channels don’t even broadcast their stuff in HD per standard 😂
It’s funny to me that people still don’t know this is aperture, but I am a photographer/videographer after all. Ha
Missing an important part. Because of the blurred background, there is less compression happening on the main subject which actually does increase the "resolution" of the object in focus. Its the same principle as to why image quality degrades when there is lots going on during a scene (Ie. Confetti dropping) but opposite
I hate it
🧐
It's a video portrait mode
Whoa. Nice. 😅
Blurred background right? It’s focus idk yet
Bro, why you mansplaning 8k?
Yes but the drawback is it's harder to keep moving objects in focus due to the lack of depth of field. Ask an NFL Films cameraman who used to shoot 16mm and now shoots Arri Alexas and Amiras how much harder it is to follow a CU shot of the ball in the air.
The type of girl I preferred to be my wife
Cleo in hi-def? Yes please.
for me it looks like a game because they move so choppily and strangely.
It doesn't even look that good to me, honestly the whole super blurry background thing is overused
istg that video of aaron donald is just madden
AMERICAN football, or kickball, or dumball, whatever you fancy.
Thanks for helping to educate the masses and remove myths!
Portrait photographers have been using this technique for decades before the internet even existed.
I don't like this kind of filming
I can’t be the only one who’s totally in love with her.
Me seeing this in 360p
I think they are increasing the aperture(well, actually, the number goes down) and decreasing the isos and increasing the shutter speed so that the pictures come out less blurry and decreases the depth of field.
Bro she went from already beautiful to female version of handsome Squidward in seconds!
You're going to break the internet showing the camera guy like that 😅
Nahhhhh it’s a video game 💀
😍😍😍
Not to mention filming in 8k wouldnt change anything for most people because there arent 8k tvs
