Fun fact, Becorns are impervious to bee stings because their bark and shells are too hard. But still, they aren’t entirely safe. Yellow jackets have power mandibles that they use to chew wood into pulp for their hives. Watch out, little Becorns!

I’m pro bees & I don’t think you can be a lover of wasps (except hornets, those guys are cool) and bees so I choose bees

My dad is a bee keeper. We kids grew up with them. And even wasps. 🐝 They are only aggressive when bothered or to protect the hive. Some of them recognize me and sit on my arm. They love apples. 😊
Never saw an hornet in the neighborhood, so all is cool.

Ironically, I've never been stung by any wasps, and even used to have a sorta symbiotic relationship with some that used to live in my backyard. We let them do as they pleased and didn't mess with them, and in return they stopped spiders and other bugs from getting inside the house. They only came in once, and it was only one, and it was to say bye before they left for good. I still have a piece of dead hive they left behind.

At the same time – these guys can be dangerous. Most other bees and wasps are gentle, but the yellow jackets are the only ones I've known to swarm people and chase them down as a hoard (even a quarter mile from the nest) and send someone to the ER due to the sheer number of stings 😖 most of the time, they'll leave you alone if you leave them alone. But this time of year, they become solitary at the end of their lifespan and aggressive. Will sting unprovoked. All the other flying stingers I'll let land on me when I garden. But yellow jackets are a non starter. Stay safe y'all! 🥺
