I’m Adding a NEW ROOM to My Narrowboat!

This week I’m adding a NEW ROOM to my floating home… well, sort of! 😂🏴‍☠️

I’ve decided it’s finally time to make better use of the semi-trad stern of the Jolly Roger, so I’m heading to All Seasons Boat Covers to start planning a brand-new canopy.

I get a fascinating look behind the scenes at how boat canopies are made, choose the fabric for mine and discover that when it comes to narrowboats… no two rear ends are quite the same! 😂

Before all that though, I’m desperate to get the Jolly Roger washed and waxed, but the dusty towpath has other ideas. After getting covered in muck — and having a rather annoying encounter with a passing boat — I’ve had enough and it’s time to move on in search of somewhere a little more peaceful.

Somewhere along the way I also manage to turn a perfectly normal cruise into an unexpected race against two walkers… and despite having an engine, I’m not entirely sure I’m winning! 😂

Eventually it’s off to All Seasons to talk colours, designs and measurements and find out exactly what’s possible for my new covered space at the back of the boat.

So grab a brew, a beer or a rum and come along for another slightly chaotic adventure aboard the Jolly Roger. 🏴‍☠️⚓

Thank you so much for watching. If you are new here, I’m Heidi and I live aboard my Narrowboat The Jolly Roger and travel the UK’s Canals in search of Adventure. After selling my house to experience an alternative lifestyle I bought a canal boat and a camper van which as a solo female who loves to travel, gives me the best of both worlds. I have recently got myself a new addition to the crew, a fabulous companion – my little rescue dog Bonny who is an absolute joy and the perfect First Mate. I also work full time off grid from my floating home making badges and trading at canal festivals as The Narrowboat Pirate aboard The Pirate Boat.

  3. My engineer's log Christas Day at work on Das Island 1984. Too hung over on Christmas eve Rum, to write more than one sentence at a time. After each sentence had to go and be sick. Trying to present log to boss, but he had to go and be sick between sentences. Swore 'never again'. Christmas night sozzled again on rum. I barely touch alcohol these days, I did my bit lol.

  4. As always, a very lovely vlog. All Seasons has got to be excited about doing your rear end, what with 74 thousand people seeing them doing such great work! That last view of Bonnie in your video reminds me so much of the Art that Paul did for you! Many thanks for making my week. Safe travels!

  5. I immediately recognised the "Lion Keys" after you had overtaken the walkers. You always bring me a cheer seeing where my late mother lived round the St Martins area 🥰

  7. A pub meet up with pals is always good.
The canvas cover will definitely be a useful addition to the boat. I like the black with grey trim.
The dry weather must be a real issue for reservoirs in the canal areas. Hopefully this hot weather gives way to rain soon to ease the water shortages. My bit of NE Scotland hasn't had scorching weather, it's still green.
