10 Acres for Under $50k in Alaska: Building our first Wooden Structure!

Our log cabin building journey in Alaska continues! In our last video, we cleared trees to make room for our tent, set up a predator fence, and constructed a garage to store tools, logs, and firewood. Now that it’s midsummer the mosquitoes are out in FULL FORCE and we are desperate for a sanctuary. We don’t have power at the lot, and we are limited in the tools that we brought up here, but we’re making the best of it and learning as we go!

  1. Haha even the Dalai Lama said: "If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito."

Proof that those Alaskan mosquitoes can test the patience of a saint! 😂

  2. I just signed up as a sub today after seeing your wife digging the outhouse hole out with a gold pan. My wife is 67, and if need be, she would do the same thing today. One pro tip to avoid burning out your clutch when starting your chainsaw would be to avoid revving up your chainsaw with the chain brake on. 3. Love this channel & excited to see where you guys will go. I do have a question…is there a reason why you guys did not take all of your stuff with you when you came up there?

  4. Two suggestions: Even if money is tight, buy a cheap solar light with a detached solar panel so you can have a little light at night without running down flashlights.
Secondly, take the time now, before building structures and build a corduroy road. If you don't know what it is, Google it. It will save you days and days of wasted time, as well as save your vehicles. Good luck. Hang in there. Thanks for sharing your journey.

  5. I’m so excited for you guys! Developing your property is so much work but so fun and rewarding. An outhouse is an absolute must for Alaskan summers. Good job you two 👏🏻
