We’re building a chicken coop from scratch on our 100 year old stone farmhouse, and this homestead project turned into a full off grid build. From cutting rafters and notching birdmouths, to insulation, rendering, and tiling the roof, this is weeks of work condensed into one video.

  1. What a chicken coop! Better teach those chickens to say, 'hooray for Simon!' 😂😂😂 They will live in luxury. I especially like that it fits in so nicely with the rest of the buildings❤

  2. You and Simon work well together. The chickens will be very happy with their home. As for your floor tile, go with what you love. If that is the green tile as an accent it will look so nice. Also herringbone.

  3. It's all looking great and at a very exciting stage! Don't know if you watch 'The Newbies' but they place colourful portugese/morocan tiles in walls, flooring etc. It's really unusual and looks great. I was thinking that would look great on the rise of your steps in the main room. They did that in the round stone house they built in Zimbabwe recently. Def worth having a look.

  4. I favor a golden yellow for the walls – something that looks like the sun glowing on a white wall. Soft and subtle. A soft green would be beautiful, too, especially if your accent tires are green. I'm looking forward to the floor going in!
PS: yes to the herringbone! (but maybe single tiles instead of stacked?)

  5. I agree with you white is too harsh a contrast. Pale sage green would work with your stones in the lounge. Also the kitchen accent wall could be a darker sage green. My personal opinion😊

  6. Yes 👍 a warm beige would be nice 😊 cuz everyone uses white. Finally someone who likes color nothing drastic just a little warm light color to make your home feel more cozy ❤ the chicken coop is looking 👀 amazing 😻 great 👍 work Simon you’re awesome 😎
