I feel like this song, 7 years ago, opened the gates of mainstream acceptance for KPOP and JPOP to the western world.
Obviously a League of Legends based song is far from "mainstream", but it was more than popular enough in a niche that it signaled to large companies that there clearly is a market for that music genre.
Now we have massively successful songs like APT. and the immense success of KPOP Demon Hunters and its songs. Especially "Golden", which – at least where I live – is still playing constantly on the radio. Even at radio stations that you would never think of broadcasting a KPOP song.
To be fair, I heard Golden on the radio often and had no idea it was a KPOP song. I assumed it was an American singing. Didn't pay much attention and just liked the vibe. When I watched the movie a couple of weeks ago for the first time, I was like "wait, what? That's the song. THAT'S THE SONG THAT HAS BEEN PLAYING CONSTANTLY ON THE RADIO? FROM A KPOP ANIMATED MOVIE?!". Was blown away. Great movie btw, deserves all the attention it has gotten and is still getting.
