It's absolutely terrifying how fast these things can happen. Those of us who drive all day, every day, we see near-hits ALL. THE. TIME!!! I wish more car drivers would keep their distance from our trucks (not that I blame them, I understand it's often impossible and many truckers are absolute menaces). People have no idea about the physical forces we're dealing with when we are loaded and managing variable vehicle speeds in governed (speed controlled) trucks, or hauling liquids etc. The trailer on the left looked like it may have been loaded with bottled water. If so, that thing weighed every bit of 80K.
So sorry for loss of life and those injured. We all need to care more about each other, period.

The trucking industry is dysfunctional. Most modern wannabe drivers aren’t qualified to drive a F -159; and many belong in prison or an insane asylum . I’ve been an owner – operator for 46 years; I’m tired of this madness. This was a preventative accident .

When it was a state highyway (41) that area had alot of accidents. Bad mo jo. Used to be 45 mph for semi's to the Michigan state line.
I see it all the time every day vehicles come to a stop a semi come borrowing down like he has invisible cloak on the road.
People need to see jail time if caught being on their cell phones while driving. No exceptions.

These “accidents” are not accidents. They’re due to irresponsible training, driving, hiring, etc., that other innocent people end up paying the price for. My prayers for the victims and their recoveries.
