  1. I take an orange, apple and 3 oz of orange juice that has ascorbic acid and place them in a blender, not a juicer. This provides the whole vitamins and minerals and the fiber.

  2. Wow Doc have to say that was very informative and I have just one question sir, I am presently taking Whole Food vitamin C in the form of Camu Camu raw and organic so now I understand that it does contain ascorbic acid but also understand that ascorbic acid effects ceruloplasmin unbinding Copper from the iron allowing the iron to become toxic and cause oxidative stress for inflammation period is there any truth to this? Thanks so much keep up the great work and a great day to you sir❤

  3. This video is misleading. Certainly Ascorbic Acid (AA) is part of larger complexes in nature, as in fruits and vegetables. But most animals (except humans) produce endogenous L-ascorbic acid in the liver which goes directly into the blood, and is not a complex with anything. So AA has vital functions on its own, and that is what Linus Pauling studied. Obviously we need other nutrients, but it's very wrong to claim AA does not have important functions in the state they are naturally produced in living beings.

  4. I really love eating these good foods based on vids like this. I ate blueberries with my oatmeal, some walnuts, dark chocolate or cacao powder and sometimes a little cinnamon in the morning. I made the quick oats with milk and added milk when finished cooking. I did this for almost two years. Boy, all the health benefits, right? Turns out, the flavonoids and other benefits from the blueberries and dark chocolate are negated or blocked by the calcium in milk. Calcium can have that effect on a lot of things. Antibiotics for one and you are usually warned to take an hour before or two hours after calcium foods for such things. So, all this time wasted because Dr's like this don't seem to know or think it is important to mention. I was aware of this already when checking a non-prescription fix for enlarged prostate after trying 3 different scripts. Finally found 2 in studies with double the effect of actually shrinking the prostate than finasteride. Finasteride was about 22-23% effective in most categories. But beta-sitosterol and lycopene supplements each on their own had about 43-44 % effectiveness at the doses in the studies. You can get those doses eating tomatoes or watermelon but the acid from that many tomatoes was hard on my bladder and watermelons were great, but I was peeing so much anyway as it is a diuretic in the amounts I had to eat. So, I used the supplements and not only did the enlarged prostate symptoms go away but a digital check before and after use proved it had shrunk in just 3 months compared to 6-12 months for finasteride if it worked at all and of course with side effects. That isn't the main thing to tell you. What I was lucky enough to know vids before using the lycopene and beta-sitosterol was emphasized in the vid. They are both fat soluble! you had to take with some kind of fat, or it was severely lessened effect that it they wouldn't work. I was on a forum for prostate, and a guy complain the beta or lycopene did nothing for him. Another person asked if he took with fat and he hadn't. He did after and fixed his problem then. So, sorry to go on but it really, really ticks me off when these vids leave info out like this that can make or break the results. I'm assuming since they want to help so much, they would say if they knew. So, if they don't know, it's not somebody I want to depend on for advice.

  5. Thank you Dr Ekberg for the very informative video! I've heard this time and time again- that all of the wonderful nutritious plants that our creator made, are absolutely the best for us, in their original created form, and I absolutely believe this to be true!

  6. It does make sense that berries for example would need antioxidants to protect its other good components, so wouldn’t it also mean that we need antioxidants to protect our own as well? 🤔 I don’t think it would be “in spite of” because without the antioxidants the nutritional value would not survive.

  7. There isn't any "natural vitamin C", only vitamin C and other compounds in fruit and such that may be good for us too!

Vitamin C is a vitamin for a few vertebrate species, like humans and guinea pigs, because they have lost steps in the enzyme chain producing it. It should produce ascorbic acid, but dont.
From this you should understand that Ascorbic acid and nothing else is vitamin C.
That fruit and vegetables have more than vitamin C in them has noting to do with it.
In the human body, its ascorbic acid we are missing, and therefore need from food. Thus a vitamin.

  8. Really insightful, makes TOTAL sense.

So most multivitamins and things like that are synthetic, and not great? i.e IM8, AG1?

So, how do people 'feel' better when taking these supplements – do some of them get through in large enough doses? Placebo is a possibility, but not for things like hair getting stronger, bones stronger, more energy, less stress etc. – so are these supplements NO good what so ever, or just 'less' effective?

Lastly, what's your opinion on food-bonded supplements, or marine derived? I am not saying we can ever replace real/natural food with supplements, don't get me wrong.

  9. I understand that there are studies that back up the claim that antioxidants in excess do shorten lifespan in the 5% range. The contention is that it upsets the balance of oxidation/reduction, both required for health.

  10. "Nature put these things in order" I wonder what the odds are that these specific components came together in just the right amounts by chance? How many trillions to one odds?

  11. You should talk to Dr. Thomas Levy, a former cardiologist who preaches the virtue of abscorbic acid… makes a living pushing it and says it works miracles… I'm confused why he would do that
