Dogfights: Legendary WWII Air Battles of the P-51 Mustang | History
It was the British putting the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine in the P-51 that took it from good to great.
It was the P-38 Lightning that shot down more Zeros than any other aircraft. The P-51 Mustang was a great fighter also.
Extremely disapointed the red tails were not mentioned.
The F-22 of WW11 pure speed mixed with muscle!!!

Candelaria and his Mustang against 2 jets and manages to shoots one of them down. He said he prayed for enemy planes and God sent him 15 more ME-109, goes head to head against all 15 straight at the leader and shoots him down as well. Than shoots down 2 more ME-109s . Going home he said his knees were shaking, probably from carrying them big balls of steel…My hat goes off to Candelaria!!!

The P51 is the most beautiful place of machinery ever crafted by human hands.
After I watch something like this, I always wonder. How many heroes have I walked past in my daily life? Is that older guy a WWII hero?

I just got to do an hour in TF51 Crazyhorse. AMAZING!
Just an fyi laminar flow wasn’t really achieved on any aircraft wing in real world combat scenarios. There are way too many variables that need to be perfect for laminar flow while flying in open air. This misconception about the p-51 has been debunked, I’d recommend checking out the channel Greg’s Airplanes and Automobiles if your interested in the technical aspects of it, he’s got great videos on the subject.
Lt. Candelaria had cojones of steel to engage 2 jet aircraft by himself and and then fly in between 18 other German aircraft before killing their squad leader while they watched.
Getting shot at and shooting at other planes. Having more fun than the law allows. Outstanding.
The sad thing is that atleast for WWII fights, this show cant really return anymore. Almost all WWII veterans have since passed. It sucks cause i wanted to see an episode with the Aztec eagles but Unfortunately all the Mexican veterans have passed away

El Salvador bought 10 P-51 Mustang bombers to defend its people from the 1967-1969 holocaust, perpetrated by the then Honduran dictator Oswaldo López Arellano against salvadorans and their families living in Honduran soil.
P-51 Mustangs played a crucial role to incursion type operation, so effectively that within 79 hours, they had helped to capture 28 Honduran towns and cities.

Such great history lessons it’s amazing how well the whole country worked together from the men who gave their lives as pilots to the workers who built the planes and the feedback between fighters and industry to constantly improve our planes and then our ability to build our planes to exact tolerances that completely overwhelmed our enemies we turning out these amazing planes about one an hour which was also our strength and they never saw us coming and it’s funny how they complained about the honor or lack of it but I feel we learned from everything we had experienced and they were set in their ways which were outdated
Awesome. A woman I knew's husband was a P-51 pilot. She wistfully told me one time, "Oh, how he loved that plane!".
