We’ve got to hand it to this creator—his “island” technique for bottle jacks is pure genius. 🧠
Jacking up a difficult spot on a porch is no joke, and creating custom islands for the jacks to sit on is top-tier problem-solving. We were seriously impressed! But then… came the wood blocks. 😬
After such a brilliant setup, adding wood blocks underneath was definitely underwhelming. The problem? Using wood blocks leaves voids underneath and creates high-pressure points that the concrete sits on, rather than spreading all that weight evenly across the surface.
What do you guys think? Does the genius of the islands make up for the wood block setup, or would you have stabilized the jacks differently? Let’s hear it in the comments! 👇

At that point couldn't you just pour in concrete underneath the slab? It would have to be a thin mix but wouldn't that be better than even foam?
Fills the space full of concret dummies
So how dows he remove the jack without the floor dropping in order to add the blocks?
The wood block only needs to hold up long enough for the concrete poured in the hole to cure and create a solid pilar. Probably just as good or better than a lot of professional fixes lol
Common Sense isn't common and people pay 15 grand for tools when someone can do it with less than $100 worth of tools and a little bit of brains
I would pour a slurry of soil cement in the hole after bolstering it up with the blocks…😂
He’s using the wood blocks to pack more an more durr under the slab
If dumb but works it ain't dumb
gonna crack in 2 months
1,000th like, seen 999 and figured why not
He isnt putting wood blocks under there, he is using the wood blocks to compact the dirt he put under the slabs
i would at least look into some 2 part foam to pour under it.
Put blocks under to support it then call concrete plant and get what we call “flow fill” it’s basically concrete without the rocks and fill the empty space underneath. Better than the foam shit they do now.
Maybe he's going to inject some cement into the gap?
Hey the block was used to compact the dirt around the inside edge JS
For DIY that's effective time consuming but hey otherwise better than most considering how clean a cut those holes are😅
I call bullshit
It’s crazy how some people with specialized tools talk down to others when someone uses their brain. Yes, someone may have taught you how to do it, but someone else had to figure it out first. One person was put in that position; the other earned their place.
I saw a guy do this and he filled the holes with concrete
I’d prolly pour a few bags of concrete down there too I think
I’m gonna go out on the limb and assume since he made it that far… I doubt that he just used two blocks and nothing else lol.
Sorry, didn't see the hole under the jacket at first
Wtf that wouldn't do anything, how do you lift abd push down at the same time
I dont thick you know what hw is doing..the wood blocks were just to pack the dirt in the whole. He must have jacked the slab up using the jack and chains through the holes. Then packing hopefully more material like gravel or conrete.
Then pour in your fiber and polymer blend. Done.
It’s the snap on hammer that makes it work
It took me 4 watches to see what was going on. For those of you that don't know. He's raising the concrete slab up to the bottom of the wall. 😂😂😂
Get that man a beer!🍻 😂
Looks like he’s using the blocks of wood to pack the dirt back in. Add more dirt in hole and pack little by little.
If it works, it works. I just hope he only used the wood block to compact the dirt.
🤔🤷♂️
I thought he was making some kind of makeshift workout bench. Since there was weights around. Obviously I didn’t read the description lol
It's stupid sooner or later the woods gonna rot same problem
It ain't stupid if it works
