Holy crap. Alpine has been making the same sub for over 13 years. They just change the color and logo lol. Funny it was rated for more power 12 years ago than now. The current Gen has the same black cone again.

Myself I will never buy a alpine sub again I have a Rockford fosegate 500.2 amp and it smoked that type R pure junk in my opinion

Lol, it’s total max power and total max rms power meaning you’re not really supposed to give them the full 1000. Give them like 750 rms and they’ll do you justice. Put em in the right box tuned low. Don’t turn the gain up to much and don’t beat on it constantly.the ported box is what makes it these subs loud too

So what amp should I get for 2 Alpine Type R 10s?
Hi I bought 2 Alpine Type R DVC 10” subs from you guys. Haven’t hooked them up yet. Bought a Zeus Hifonics 3216.1D to power them, all 1/0 100% OFC. It’s going to be wired to two ohm load so each sub should get around 800 RMS. Is this too much for these subs? Comments on here have me worried that I’ll blow them. It’s the first system I’ll be doing on my own. I’ve seen the tests of this amp on Dyno and it’s pretty close to its rating

I have problems with the alpines at one point but then I figured out what the problem was I'm trying to cram so much power inside of work for the Sony Online went to let me have a thousand Iron mess so the good thing is instead of going with a big and provide it's going to give you a lot of power you just need a good nice small 500 or 800 watt amplifier it's not the size of the app that makes you sound or be louder it still hook up and how you take care of your stuff when you look it up so if you go with a 500 watt amp with nice size wires for your speakers and nice size power wire and knights ground then you can sound good because I have two 10-inch Alpine Type R's inverted inside a Acura on a 500 watt Sony amplifier people be slipping down I have a thousand Watts going to them but I don't it's all about your hookup broke so any speaker any company can sound good it's all on you and how you put it together and connected and hook it up if you get it the right way it can sound amazing bass head forever

I had a pair of 12 Type Rs in college. Lets just say the only thing that did any raping in college were these subs to my trunk.
I run 2 swr12d2s, and two pdxm12 on a deathbox custom tuned to my cars volume. all zero gauge, big three upgrade. duel XS batteries, lc2i to compensate bass roll off. 30 sheets of sound skin applied this year no rattle. This is my third year with this gear and I have never have smelt coils, burned a wire, or had a anything hotter then a mildly warm amp. These subs can not be blown I blown kickers JL punch vipers even a 15inch mofo Single on this set up. But the fith gen type r's I own 6 right now I will never need more SPL Sq and useless broken mirrors than these subs can deliver. If it gets better then this I can't find it. Kickers other then the L7 iso can all burn, junk. Kickers are Great if your 16 but sound like crap from the time of birth till one week later when they die. Alpine disturbing the peace day in day out pass em down to your kids first whip.

It's all in the box. Subs givee u different sounds. Different responses but wen it comes down to i 2 8 inche sub in a perfect box wil b louder than 2 18s inn aas shity box. Noww they hit completely different and sound completely different but we it comess to as sound pressssure levels the 8s wwill make more
I have a sealed box for mine cuz I bought them from a buddy and don't have anything else to put them in other than more sealed box.. It's hard to find a good ported box with out buildin 1 youurself but onnce u build that ported box tuned for low 30s between 28 and 33 hz boy u better hold on lmao
Wwwith alpine a always alwayss alwayss go ported. Puttin alpine 12s in a sealed box is like puttin 2 10 kicker comps inn as ported box. Put alpine 12s in a portedd box it's like puttin 4 kicker CVr 15s in a sealed bbox lol…. The difference from 2 sealed alpine a to 2 ported alpin iss lik add innn 2 more subs to your vehicle
The Alpine type rs are my favorite I am about to build a ported box tuned To 30 Hz to get more low and extension but you cannot go wrong with Alpine's I don't care what anybody says they are clean and loud period and sound good with in genre of music with kickers I found that you could only make them make noise with rap or heavy bass but with Alpine's they are always hitting hard on everything from country to classic to dub step and rap
I had a pair of CVr before the type r running on a 1200 W Fosgate at one ohm and yeah they are stupid loud but about worthless for anything else
@bouge laal depends on what you are looking for for accuracy and sound quality it would be fine for loudness I would want 2 cubes per 12 at the least

i have 2 of these in a sealed box runnin on their own separate pdxm12 alpine amps and 3 excess power 12vs… had the same set up for a year and a halff. never a problem… hit just like they always have and no distortion jusst clean bass that makes all 4 doors rattle against the frame. it is easily connfused by most for 15s cuz these things hit just as low as the human ear detects… ive ttried the deepest of bass and these r always flexing shit movin shirts and suckin air intto the caar like a fan… u cant go wwrong with them. im not saying they r the best by any means but wway better than most. idk db ratings never tested mine is a daily driver set up but i can tell u that ive been heard from an area in my residence to the court house. about a 3rd of a miles distance at the least. doesnnt sounnd far but wen u take intto account the turns hills and buildings in the there is a big difference in a 3rd of a mile here rather than out in the open on flat lands
bought the 10" dual 2ohm, powered by 1400W @ 1ohm soundstream amp, and my dust cap imploded in a proper sized sealed box. the voice coils exploded internally, and alpine isn't offering any warranty service because they BELIEVE I broke the dust cap myself. I'm choked, won't be supporting alpine anymore. it lasted 5 months, and I waited nearly that long before I was denied any repair/replacement by their company. don't think for a second that kevlar is good for anything when it's one single layer ( resembling cheesecloth) moving on to better quality merchandise called ORION
