The trade war between the United States and Canada has entered a new chapter — and it could quickly get even uglier.
At 12:01 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Canada imposed 15% to 50% duties on roughly $20 billion worth of American goods, matching the tariffs President Donald Trump imposed on Canadian goods last month.
Paper products, construction materials, home appliances, and agricultural products are also facing fresh duties.
Trade talks between the two nations, which are top trading partners, broke down last month at the 11th hour. Trump had initially pushed back his self-imposed deadline for the tariffs, touting a deal that was within reach. But the two sides failed to bridge their remaining differences as negotiators haggled over the final details.

Midterms cannot get here fast enough. Turn this president into a lame duck. And start sending out the subpoenas. And first get Trump wife Melanie in a hearing on what her relationship was with Jeffrey Epstein. Ask her what was going on when the photo was taken of her kissing Epstein. Seems if they called Hillary who had no connection to Epstein and her Husband who had been to Epstein's Island. It's no different then having Trump's wife at a hearing in front of Congress. And all the others who has benefited from Trump's manipulation of the stock market. Clean house completely.
Why hasn’t Congress removed this incompetent administration?
Well, this is going to help with the grocery bills…you get what you vote for.

Canada is making COUNTER-TARIFFS, after the US applied theirs
I have two hives, last year we got 5 gallons of yummy stuff, this year its early september and we have 0. Our bees are barely keeping up with their daily food needs let alone making enough for us to take. Kind of crazy, but we had the greatest maple syrup season in many years so I guess we still got some sweets either way.
Canada and Europe are not to mess with.
The trouble with being a difficult client, no matter your power – in the end, you will always be charged more than a fair client. The US will pay through their nose for decades due to this.
