  1. The problem is parents give these kids these things and don't teach them how to use them and safety. I work at my local schools, I see them to not watching and not obeying the laws and just going through like people are just going to read their mind. I don't even see them stop to look and no helmets. Also on the other hand people in cars are being stupid as well. I have almost hit one when I stopped at a stop sign and it was my turn to go and they just threw through. I will definitely not buy my kids them.

  2. Why is the first thing that comes to everybody's mind is punish everybody for a handful of failed kids whose parents are responsible for them and should be watching them and where they're riding these things, why should me or my kids be punished because some dumbass kid got ran over. I'm sorry but if their parents aren't smart enough to raise smarter kids, everybody else shouldn't be punished for it. A sixth grader riding in traffic without a parent, good job folks

  3. Thought and prayers to her family and friends. People don't realize that once someone is on an E-scooter or e-bikes they are no longer a pedestrian. They must abide by the same laws as a motor vehicle.

  4. Is it that the e-scooter was involved or is it that the law requires people to use them in the middle of the road where careless drivers don't care about motorcyclists so they surely don't care about e-scooter riders

  5. I didn’t know her personally, but one of my friends knew her, and hearing about this tragedy absolutely broke my heart. My heart goes out to her family, friends, and everyone who loved her. It’s so heartbreaking that she was only 11. Tomorrow, we’ll be wearing pink to honor and remember her. 💗 I really hope we can see stronger safety measures for electric scooters so tragedies like this can be prevented. Fly high, angel. You will be deeply loved and remembered. 🕊️🤍❤️‍🩹

  6. I am so sorry to the family. E scooters and e bikes should be treated just like gas ones. There are some stand-up e scooters here in LA that goes 55 miles an hr. At that speed you need to be 16 and have a license.

  7. Why was a child on an adult motorized scooter? You folks gotta stop buying your kids adult toys. Theyre clearly not intelligent enough to use them wisely. So yall cry about it on the news. If you cant hold a license you shouldnt be on the roads.

  8. Don't be blaming the scooters and ebikes the parents should be charged for negligence and they have the nerve to blame it on the signs its the parents fault they should be charged with negligence it like cars if you let a 11 year old drive your car it would be the same.

  9. So how did the accident happen? I'm not saying kids dont neglect safety while riding those e-scooters/bikes but a lot of people don't follow traffic laws anymore. Drive at the speeds they want, don't signal, abrupt lane changing.

  10. Kids are on e-scooters darting around traffic at high speeds in my neighborhood and around my work. Lots of er visits. A death will happen soon. These idiot parents not enforcing helmet rules and not teaching their kids to stay off roads and under a certain speed.

  11. They shouldn’t be allowed people to drive the scooters under 18 years old and they should be driving the sidewalk or designated area if they catch them driving on our same area with the cars, they should take the scooter permanent

  12. Every kid riding by without a helmet should have their e-devices take away. Have their parents pick them up and attend classes on safety. Every school should teach safety..required!

  13. The drivers has the Power of life and death in their hands ,all the time I come through this intersection all the time ,it’s complicated and dangerous ,here ther are several moving parts on both sides of the streets here , they Run Red Light s , as well .
The City Of New Orleans needs do more this lady said Helmets , is that the only observation that they could come up with
if so our city is gonna suffer tremendously !
The library has these kids there every day the multiplex intersection here is dangerously a death trap for pedestrians as well I come through here several times , they need more Crosswalks , maybe, some Speed Traps slow them down a little here for some sections where kids are highly consecrated like the kids & the elderly.at the library This intersection has many moving parts to it . At night sections needs more lighting as well .We have Red Light Runners from here to Elysian Fields Ave . trust me it’s very dangerous!! Slow down and Save A life no one deserves die on thier way home because you weren’t paying attention that day ! Stay ifff the phone ! You have power under your foot to stop and take your time check and see if going to fast in certain times a helmet is only one part of many moving parts if traffic we are responsible for everything that’s happening you can’t say it’s the Kids fault because he was enjoying his bike really ! You grown folk never has wanted look at the real hard facts , this City and our drivers are dangerous on the streets just to some comments it’s not just E Bukes it’s the bad driver who think just getting home fast and thinking of anything but thinker kids the bedtime you watch for kids , pets , and Elderly people walk-in the streets .

  14. Most folks ride responsibly. For those who don't . . . . ban/restrict, then add stringent enforcement. They will try and flee. Out of fear or as a game, they will run. We all know what happens then. In the end, the most cost-effective measure for a community is infrastructure improvement.

  15. Those things are horrible for kids! I was leaving a busy Parking lot and 2 girls on one scooter came up as I was turning. I didn't even see her because it's so small and she was looking at me like whoops! They could have gotten flattened coming up the side of me like that! They just zip in and out of cars like maniacs!

  16. I wouldnt allow my child to use an e-bike or e-scooter. Taking public transportation is also as dangerous because of weirdos.
Danger is everywhere regardless of the neighborhood. You gotta have your head on a swivel but children that young have the attention span of a peanut 🥜.
Walking to school can easily be just as dangerous on a busy intersection. Pick your kids up and drop them off. That child was too young and truly a loss.
    My condolences to the family.

  17. When will the Green energy zealots finally take responsibility for these tragedies? Anything with an electric motor seems to get a pass.

These kids don't have enough life experience, training, nor skills to be allowed to ride down the road at these speeds.

It's time to put our foot down on the whole green agenda for the sake of our kids.

  18. That's super sad. I am big in escooters but even as an adult we ride will full gear, in groups of 2 at least and avoid busy places at all cost

My heart goes out to the family. Geez that is just so sad 😥

  19. Stop urging the government to make rules to raise your kids. If you think a scooter is too fast for them, limit the speed or don't buy it for them. The government is trying to ban all scooters from sidewalks. Guess where kids will be then, in the roads.

  20. Drivers never pay attention. They go way too fast. It doesn’t matter if the bike is motorized or not they don’t like bicyclist. I’ve literally seen cars hit people just walking on the road oh let’s make them walk a little bit slower so they can get hit sooner.

  21. I don’t feel as if an 11 year-old should be riding an electric anything that’s the problem. People are talking about how fast these bikes go, but I’ve gotten hit seven times on a regular bicycle in Florida and a lot of those were hit-and-run stop putting the blame all on electric motorized scooters, and put the blame on these drivers. A lot of these people don’t pay attention. They’re too eager to get to their destination they drive 50 and a 30 and they speed it’s not how it doesn’t matter if the bike goes 10 mile an hour or 30 mile an hour if a car that weighs over 20,000 pounds is going at 50 miles an hour. What’s gonna happen? They’re gonna die regardless.

  22. Here in Toronto kids go right through Stop 🛑 signs and cross red light intersections regardless. Children under 18 should not be operating such vehicles on main roads. Signs or not, adults go through them just as well.

  23. Unfortunately in these situations, although the law states pedestrians have right of way, its not safe to assume the driver is paying attention. Just as defensive driving is a thing, pedestrians should assume all drivers are impaired and wait for them to pass before going. Better safe than sorry.

  24. I’m a 7th grader at tays jr high, and I heard about this news, apparently my friend was her best friend. She told me more information, her birthday was on 9/10! I ride an e scooter, but I’m going to try to be more careful this time and wear a helmet. May she rest in peace. 🕊️

  25. And this why y'all gotta know safety for real where is the parents in this situation I see everyone saying the car should be more yes of course but every good driver knows you should be aware even if you have the right away yes you are a driver on e scooter and not going to lie my opinion if it goes anything more than 10 Miles and ur not 13 you should not be writing something like this stay on a bike or longboard get some exercise or something such a shame people talk about people should be good drivers but they don't know good driving

  26. I am not surprised. I almost hit one of these little inexperienced brats myself in New Caney/Tavola. Kid is zig zagging in the road. I used my turn signal to let him know where I was turning, but he ran by on the side I WAS TURNING ON. He was about 9, maybe 10. These kids SHOULD NOT BE ON THESE THINGS!! They lack the experience on the road, have NO CONCEPT of the danger they are placing themselves in, and their parents will shed plenty of tears when they bury their kids, but they really should be ashamed of GIVING THESE KIDS THE LOADED GUN TO END THEIR LIVES WITH WITHOUT ANY THOUGHT OF TEACHING THEM RIGHT FROM WRONG AND ALSO NOT MAKING THEM WEAR ANY SAFETY GEAR LIKE A HELMET. This is just natural selection at work folks. Dumb people having dumb kids and then giving the kids the tools they need to end their own lives through their own ignorance.
