China Just Blocked This 3,422°C Metal : Why the US Military Is Panicking

When China suspended export licenses for tungsten following new US tariffs, global exports collapsed from 103 tonnes to zero in a matter of weeks. Controlling over 80% of global production, Beijing unleashed a critical mineral chokehold targeting the exact element that powers Western armor-penetrating munitions, rocket nozzles, and precision semiconductor tooling. With a melting point of 3,422°C and extreme kinetic density, tungsten has no functional substitute in modern warfare. As the Pentagon faces a strict 2027 deadline to eliminate Chinese minerals from its defense supply chain, stockpiles are draining rapidly while alternative mines like South Korea’s Sangdong remain years away from scaling. Is the United States facing an unavoidable defense paralysis before alternative supply chains can even go live?

  1. Maybe a little bit stupid to start an economic/trade war against countries, who owns specific or rare earth materials.
The US and their vasal states ( Japan, EU ) did want to hurt Chiná, Now they are bleeding. The West still wants to control the world.

  2. Banning? No problem, as the Americans have no issues with substituting it with uranium! Who cares about the radiation, like in the uranium projectiles given to Ukraine to fire at Russia.

  3. its also used as the tips for machining operations: lathes, routers, milling machines, and boring machines. so no tungsten means shut off economy. its beyond military usage. ps – the original 'light bulb' used tungsten wire element to generate the light when current rushed through it.

  4. The US thought the western countries chip, memory, and lithography sanctions would crush China’s economy. The sanctions failed and now China is retaliating with sanctions against the west. The US knew they couldn't win the AI race without cheating. The US sanctions on China always backfire. Unfortunately, the US never learns. Karma is a bitch.

  5. It feels like we are living through a sci-fi movie in real life. While everyone else is arguing about politics, countries are quietly unlocking materials physics that will define the next 50 years of power. Great deep-dive on a terrifying topic!

  6. 3,422°C?! That is absolute insanity. The engineering required to contain and shape metal at that kind of temperature blows my mind. No wonder defense analysts are losing sleep over this. Incredible video, as always!
