Do the upper joint first. As you said.. The solder flows toward the heat.. Think about it. 🤔 and you don't clean up drips with flux. You use a dry rag.
From working in the commercial/ industrial side of plumbing but originally coming from residential. They’ve taught me to just use a scotchbrite pad and clean it with a clean rag. The acid from the flux brush leaves the chemicals on the pipe and discolors the pipe. The way they’ve taught me looks really clean. I also heat the fitting and clean the excess flux that comes out of the fitting to avoid the goobers and Saulder running down the pipe. Lot of ways to do it 🤷🏻♂️
I'm getting ready to install a water heater. I'm not a plumber so I watch several videos like this before doing the work. I want to use copper on this install.
This is a bad solder joint and bad advice tbh. The solder is all over the outside of the pipe, and cleaning up with a flux brush just adds flux and mess.
I know this may be a dumb question, (or wait depending on who you are, there's no such thing as a dumb question) but, is soder for Cooper pipes the same as soder for copper wires? (I'm sure it is but just wondering)
What do you clean the flux off with after using it to clean your joint ? Pro tip use a dry clean rag and be fast . It will wipe off the excess solder and make it smooth and shinny . After that wipe it off with a clean wet rag , that will help clean and neutralize the flux so it won’t corroded. I updated my comment as I may have been a little buzzed when I typed it out haha .
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's get to real life. Show how to solder a ball valve (horizontal) about 8 inches off the ground. Now show a propane bottle with nozzle you buy at Home Depot or Lowes for roughly $25. The valve is about 8" from the wall or closer. Let's see it.
I've done this for years, usually in the worst possible places. The worst possible time with zero room for error. The best investment I ever made was a propress tool.

That looks messy as hell
Plumvis
Why do you speed it up I'm just trying to teach people when did make more sense to actually do the thing in real time
Here in uk we dont apply flux to fitting only pipe and think too much solder applied should be thin bead
Thanks
regarding the smoke arising from the soldering , is it toxic ?
what is the name of that rod you are using
Where to buy flux

Gravity has left the building
we all here atleast one time heated up the pipe instead of the fitting directly. We live, we learn.
Use one of those cheap little paint brushes to clean your joint not the acid brush
Good tip would be, make sure there is no water in the pipe
Soft solder🤨, plumber's in the 70s did that
Don’t brush your joint, your just burning your brush and wasting your money. If it dripped, you had the heat wrong. Use a different torch.

Like this is describing.
Piece. Of cake
Unfortunately, few pipe joints are on a bench with lots of room around them.
How long do you recommend hearing the copper before applying solder?
But he’s right too😂
How long do Yu heat up for and r you apply light or tense pressure to the fitting my can’t teach shit
Thank you so much sir 🎉❤
Keep the torch away from your solder is the key broski

Nice work!
I woupd say:" I would wait till you c9me in my dreams and tell me what to do" 😅❤😅
Great video man! 👌
I must always heat the other side 1st then move to the front, otherwise I have a patch because the heat never got there
