I only buy coke and pepsi and sprite with sugar cane. I found Dr Pepper today with sugar cane. I read labels on food and they are putting cheaper oils that weren’t meant for human consumption. I don’t buy rice grown in the USA. I miss mayonnaise. I don’t buy food that lists natural flavors. Ice cream is now ice desert. Crae ingredients to make up for lack of cream. I stay away from all breads that don’t mold.
Make up is ridiculous how much crap. Private equity firms are buying up brands we could trust. Changing formulas unsafe ingredients cheaper.
Monopolies are everywhere. Now as a customer I have no power.

I use what I have, but I also think now do I even need this? I like to make images in 3d, but now that Nvidia graphic cards are insanely expensive when my card burns out I'll just draw with physical art tools. I've already started making the switch. I can't think of any modern product that I can't ditch and go old school with, but I'm 58 so maybe that has something to do with it. Go ahead and make garbage products, I can live without them.
I was always proud to offer my loyalty to a brand. Now I see that the brands I was loyal to, weren’t loyal to me. And I see them kissing the ring of a wannabe king.
I'm a GNU/Linux user for 2 decades; there are plenty of alternatives if you're willing to try'em. Don't know the first thing about Xiaomi or Huawei since they are not allowed to sell in the land of the free.

I was a huge Apple fan, still love their ecosystem, but their prices are out of control, and they haven’t provided any real new features to justify it. Siri sucks for most things, and all they seem to care about are the camera features. I have a camera to take pictures, I don’t need my phone to do it and I don’t want to have to pay for it. I don’t need a good number of features you find in cars today. All that technology just raises the price and is just another point of failure and I don’t want it, didn’t ask for it, but for some reason I’m expected to pay for it.
Recall one of the first slues of agencies that were defunded when Trump took office (and all employees fired) were consumer protection agencies, their investigators, and lawyers working on behalf of consumers. No surprise corporations are going hog wild.
It's so much WORK to be a thoughtful consumer these days. Just saying. I'm nearly 70, and it used to be so much easier just to buy what I needed and not worry about whether the product would suddenly be crap, or less useful, or not fit, or possibly even be impossible to use. Sigh. There were always bad products, I'm not saying everything was perfect, but they change daily now, and I'm having trouble finding anything worth my money, that doesn't cost more than I can afford.
I'm also being more choosy about my spending. Every brand is under investigation
I stopped spell check and now I type exactly what my fingers land on. I have no regrets because I check my spelling with my mind now. I have been aware of the term planned obsolence and such for some time now. Today this is obscenely rogue, to say the least. Upcycle is my motto. My focus, time, and energy to create is the real money we all possess. It's that simple.

Another good example of a successful boycott was against Disney and ABC to get Kimmel reinstated. But companies only act when feel the pain. I wish more people would boycott Amazon but they can't give up next day shipping. And no one should be on ex-twitter. I still won't buy Goya products from his first term. The best way to fight corporations is take what they care about most – money. But that means a lot more people who Resist need to start boycotting fascist and fascist appeasing businesses

No, New Coke was not profitable, but the media fervor of those 79 days caused Coke itself to more than double its damages in profit when people gobbled up Coke Classic.
Once you're gone, you have to stay gone. The problem is not the people serving as cogs in corporate machines. The problem is the corporations themselves. Watch more scifi. It's one of the only common denominators. They embed the assumption that we will always need them so that we can't dream of a future without them. We have enough now. We don't need them. We just have to stop.
You mentioned that you'll miss excel. I've been using Libre Office for a while. They lag behind, but they do tend to "adopt the standards set by more popular providers" cough cough.

Thank you for these videos on how to be an informed consumer in this age of corporate theft. Free market principles of corporate accountability and supply and demand are dead by design. But I still boycott because I hate being manipulated out of my money via ransomware, forced obsolescence, and enshitification. So, I cancelled Amazon. I don't shop at Target. I got rid of all subscription-based entertainment. I use the library, ARC and Goodwill, PBS, and free YouTube (with ad blockers). I don't miss any of it. My next challenge is to find a way to listen to music in my car without Spotify. Remember making mixed tapes and burning CDs? Remember actually owning things you spend money on? I will say this…I do get rid of old and outdated products, so the act of owning stuff includes that stuff cycling in and out of my life, but the subscription-based economy goes too far. IMHO. For reasons too many to get into here. Oh, I also make my own face cream and body lotion. It outperforms everything on the market. And my kitchen is plastic-free. We do have some consumer power left.

Not a fan of the whole voting with your dollar thing. We should annoy them and let them know we're unhappy. Quietly boycotting doesn't do much. It doesn't get other people on board. And constantly having to readjust our buying habits leads to decision fatigue and exhausts us. It's not enough to simply shop elsewhere.

I have business and use MS office suite and 365 for MS exchange. I not sure how I can make the transition for 26 year old business switch. The email history and my 5,000 contacts is the issue. The other products can be replaced with open source.
The only thing i can think of is once I've slowed down, I could make the switch.
I am a label reader, and I have great tastbuds. I can tell when the companies change the recipe of their product and/or add more salt and sugar.
Aldi's has done this to a few of the products I loved. However, i just stopped buying the product. So sometimes I dont buy that food anymore. Im not compromising.
One time, I kept a box of brownie mix for almost a year. I then bought another box to make both for a party. The new box had more calories because they added more sugar and oil. This is how they get you addicted to their products.

I have also moved to proton, looking at framework computers (modular computers), and have already moved to less expensive androids (a phone is a phone/calls/texts work fine). Corporate greed should be taken wayyyyyyy more seriously by all of us and we need to collectively JUST STOP BUYING THESE THINGS so frequently. We have options but do not realize how PR makes people think they do not have options. Majority do not realize PR in general and how it works/persuades the brain.

Libre. I have not paid for Excel since 2010. I paid for Quicken in 2013. Working on writing my own version of the parts of it thst I use in Libre. I will NEVER pay a subscription fee for software.
I'm done with Apple, Amazon & Microsoft & trying to find ways to be done with Google. Apple & Amazon were simpler to quit. With Steam OS & Linux, I'm going to be done with MS.
I stopped having brand loyalty several decades ago. I will buy something and I try not to buy the same thing from the same company the next time I go to a store. I don't recommend this for everyone, I do it for neuroplasticity and to make sure that my environment is always changing and never stagnant.
I was raised by accountants and so I usually do a cost per ounce or cost per gram comparison, and no one is surprised when I come home with 20 l of oil or 50 lb of organic whole wheat flour.
