Q from Star Trek appears many times across numerous series and is often doing so with some mischievous intent, test or life lesson behind is antics. Or at least that is how it seems. But does his interference ultimately prove to be for the benefit of humans? Picard? or even his own Q Continuum? Let’s look at his appearances and see if we can formulate an answer.

I think trying to limit Q to “good” or “bad” is wrong. Q is a force for change, whether positive or negative. But change means growth, whether we like it or not.
he sees humanity / federation / picard etc as his pet. very disrespectful, a toy for his amusement, but ultimately something he loves.
which makes him good by our frame of reference… which has no bearing on a broader reality in which his role exceeds defineable morality.

I think Q is overall good but he still loves to be a trickster. I think it has a lot to do with John de Lancie himself, he has a history of making quirky characters lovable (Eugene Bradford in Days of Our Lives) with how Q ended up.
Let's not forget that Sisko punched Q and Q was surprised… though I think that was more of a test of Sisko to measure his willingness to what is necessary to protect the Federation as you noticed he never bothered Sisko again.
Q does do good, but he has his own way about it. He sees something in humanity no one else of his race saw, hope perhaps.
Q is kinda like a greek god of old. Maybe there are some lessons to be learned but someone’s gonna get turned into an animal or die horribly. Maybe Apollo wasnt so bad 🤷🏽♀️
I maintain that without Q, the Borg likely wouldn't have made as much of a beeline for the UFP and Earth specifically.
Due to his intervention the Borg first got curious because they saw a ship propelled at speeds that even they struggled to reach, and with no observable propulsion signature as well – which would indicate technology far beyond theirs, and thus a juicy target for assimilation. Through assimilation they then learned that it had been Q, who took a suspicious interest in humanity, and Picard in particular. They knew of the Continuum from assimilated El-Aurians already, which also told them about what limitations the Q still had. All in all the Continuum (always obsessed with achieving "perfection") now had a potential access point to the Q's near-omnipotence dangled in front of them, confirmed by Q himself. So they assimilated Picard, without fully eliminating the individuality Q so admires about him, and made for Earth, in hopes of identifying patterns among their population, which might help them understand what exact traits Q saw as a gateway to their state of being…
Of course Q’s actions help.
Mostly they help Q. But they still technically help nonetheless.
The two Star Trek IDW Comic Books "The Q Conflict" and "The Q Gambit" give a ton of answers for this video and your previous video "Q Homeworld".
I like the hug from picard and q but the q dying is completely bs and I very much dislike that. I liked that they at least had a return in the very end.
Q forces acknowledgement of the Borg threat. Yes he accelerates that a bit, but if the Enterprise had not had that direct encounter and come away to tell the tale, the Borg would have wiped out the Federation. He makes sure DS9 will be around to manage the Bajoran Wormhole. Which means when the Dominion comes, there is someone that can deal with them. Although I would say that the Prophets would have projected The Sisko and the station if it came down to it. I would say that Q is playing the role of a gardener of humanity and the Federation. Trimming and pruning is hard on the cut branches, but the tree is stronger in the end.
You did forget Q showing up on Lower Decks though.

One pf Q's actions ahd lead to the Second Borg Collective/ Like the Borg Cooperative, the members of the Second Borg Collective are volunteers. Most of the members of the Collective are from races who are accepting the importance of social groups over individuality. Oddly some human cutlure in the 23rd and 24th Centuries do palce the importance of the group overthe individual while understanding the importance of the individual in some areas.

In my own head canon the Q we see is two separate individuals, in essence, one angelic and the other a demonic impostor so subtle that even the crews of Enterprise and Voyager cannot reasonably be expected to see through him. Yet the good Q never exposes his diabolical counterpart. This begs the question; could learning to see between them ultimately be the real trial?
One thing I would note: the Mirror Universe does not have a Q Continuum. Nor does it seem to have Organians, Talosians, etc.
It’s going to sound cynical, but the Mirror Universe seems to imply that intelligent life (such as humanity) would lapse into evil and malevolent motivations if not constantly challenged by beings of a higher magnitude of order like the Q.

I have always looked at TNG Q like a trickster god who is bringing out the best in people by seemingly screwing with them. Who knows what is or isn't true a lot of the time.
In voyager he seemed more straightforward.
