  1. Saints are legit. I’m rewatching this game and realizing that the secondary coverage, with a few glaring exceptions , was actually pretty tight

  2. I think the headline is wrong. To not go for two means giving the Lions the ball with the option of winning with just a FG. So this is not a question of safe vs going for the win. The question is what do you have a better chance of doing? Preventing the Lions from kicking a FG or getting two pts? Even then if you say that you can stop the Lions the likely result would be a tie which means that the upside is not that great. I would love to see what the analytics say.

  3. that second half by the lions was brutal, and i have to wonder if the offense continuously stalling out lead to our defense getting worn out because they played great throughout the first half. a win is a win but boy do we have some lessons to learn. got off easy this time.

  4. Game theory wise, it's better to go for it, especially in an inter-division game. If your goal is to win the super bowl, you need to first make the playoffs. To do that, you need to get more than 9 wins, typically. Besides the fact that PATs are technically not 100% likely, kicking one makes you trend toward 8 wins, which hurts your chances of making the playoffs. Going for it pushes you toward either 7 or 9 expected wins, but 7 gets you to the same result as 8 – missing the playoffs. If you're in a game against a contending division rival, then the tie is much better because as long as you're both trending toward 8 wins, then you feel the negative effect much less.

  5. "Who's your favorite Lion?"

    "NoDee!"

    "NoDee? Rookie on Offense?"

    "No!"

    "He plays defense?"

    "NoDee!"

The Lions just have not learned a thing, DEFENSE.

  6. That game should have never gotten that close. Lions get too comfortable after a good lead. Superbowl teams are killers. Lions need to maintain their killer instinct for the whole 60 minutes

  7. Last year the offense was 5th in the NFL and the defense was 18th. This opener they were up 21 to nothing and almost lost the game twice. Why does Kelvin sheppard still have a job? They fired the guy who was responsible for the 5th best offense and kept the guy responsible for the 18th worst defense. WHY DOES HE STILL HAVE A JOB!!!!
