DISCLAIMER (Of course, I’d have one 😁)
Hey, you might think that this info makes me your lawyer, but it doesn’t and I’m not. Sorry, but I AM NOT YOUR LAWYER unless we have an engagement agreement. I am just providing public information here, like a library does, and am not providing you with legal advice about your situation. So, it would be totally unreasonable for you to conclude we have an attorney-client relationship just because you’re viewing this information.
Are You Legally Required To Leave A Tip?

is tipping out of control? Let me know! Also have you seen my long form video? Check it out by clicking the link in above this video's title, and let me know what you think
just pay in cash
Some places are trying to charge a no tip fee of 10 or 15% which youncan demand to be removed unless stated before you order
Tipping started as way of paying extra for good service but the USA turned it into a legal wage subsidy because a scammy agreement made with US government.
No its not legally required. Saved you 10 minutes.
So they charge you service fees to cover their costs and then the price of the item itself and then your also expected to pay the employee's wages? Capitalism go brrr ig
No you dont
I dont tip for anything anymore. Especially at the places that have that serice charge.
Forcing a tip IS robbery. Literally, it is robbery.
Tipping in the u.s has gotten out of control.
If I see a service charge, that's my tip.
The answer is no, it is theft
If she does that in real life, throwing coffee in his face, he can sue them into oblivion
if you dont go above and beyond.. I will not tip. In my country, I will tip someone that I have had a connection with, or someone whom I have received an excellent experience from service wise… maybe not even excellent, but above average… dumbasses in America will tip a server for spitting in their food
Tipping is disgusting , awkward and stupid .
This whole tipping thing should have never extended beyond restaurant servers who rely on it for a payday. Everybody else doesn’t need it, or is grossly underpaid and given tips to more or less feel better about their terrible wage
Mr. Pink, anyone?
Tipping because shitty ass payment
Here in the Philippines, if you tip or you dont thats ok with us..no worries.
If tips are meant to reward good service, why aren’t they a flat rate instead of a percentage of the bill? That feels like a scam! I’d happily pay a $5 flat fee for great service, just like I do for valet parking, but 20% of my bill? Sorry, that’s a different story! Never pay percentage of your bill as a tip!!!
It shouldn't be the customer's job to help pay workers a livable wage, and unfortunately in a society where tipping is expected for such a reason, it actually makes the wages end up as less of a matter to fix.
And if we didn't tip, it'd just negatively impact the workers
No!
Tipping is not a city in China
Anything above 10% is no longer TIP but PORTION!!
No thanks
What do you even get from a just a tip exactly as your boss is not gonna give a care about you and only about the money
A tight slap would make the waiter straight!!
If you’re in Alaska, California, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, or Washington, you don’t have to feel obligated to tip just to “make the employee whole.” Employers must pay tipped workers the full state minimum wage before tips. Tips are extra.
Wow throwing hot coffee at a customer that’s a tasty lawsuit
So they make obligatory tips AND optional tips now?????
Tipping exploded during covid but now its expected. I hate the turning the touchscreen around "its going to ask you a question " the fuck you signed up to mk my food for a wage why should i tip you? Now if it is a sitdwn restaurant and the waiter/waitress is attentive, refilling drinks, checking in, definitely tip. But if you just wrote my order and never checked my refill naw u aint getting a tip.
i tip my change (usually a quarter) cuz coin confuse me in my wallet so waiter can keep them, sometimes they get $0.01 because the item was something like $9.99
"Look at my eyes! NO TIP! And I want a printed receipt."
As an African, I do not feel a DROP of guilt when I refuse to tip. Tipping should be voluntary, not mandatory.
so can i sue the worker for hiting me
I (13 f) am walking through a gas station while my mom is pumping gas I grab everything I want (just a Dr. Pepper and some gummies) and then I walk up to the counter with my debit card choose to go to the little self checkout thing and start scanning then press “finish and pay” i put my card in and there it is the little tip screen that includes “10% 25% and 30 %” and just then an employee walks over to me and says “Did you find everything ok” I say yes and feel her eyes on me while I press no tip then I turn around and she gives me the MOST DISCUSTED LOOK IVE EVER SEEN SOMEONE GIVE ME! She looked like I just said no to donating donating a few bucks to save a child from cancer! It was so stupid.
There’s been times I left $0.00 tips, I definitely never regret it
