It’s OFFICIAL we have the first X-MEN cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Disneys bit D23 event over the weekend confirmed – our STORM is Maya Boyd, our MISTER SINISTER is Adam Driver, our ROGUE is Inde Navarrette and our CHARLES XAVIER is Christopher Abbott! (In Addition to the previously announced – EMMA FROST is Samara Weaving, CYCLOPS is Kit Connor and of course JEAN GREY is Sadie Sink!)
But do these castings WORK? Are these the right choices for the X-Men? I’ve spent the last week sharing some of my ideas of WHO I’d cast and ideas of HOW I’d bring these characters into the Universe. Do I have strong opinions due to my love of these mutants? And do I have story ideas and theories based around these casting decisions, YUP all in this video!

The X-Men are a superhero team in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. amazing video. discovered you from the escape podcast clips and needed more. Everytime you talk it’s nothing but informed and passionate. I absolutely love your pitch and ideas for the saga and getting the X-Men introduced but I would love to see your ideas on what we know already. So far we have 3 movies slated post SW. X-Men, Ghost Rider and BP3 in Dec of 2028. Would love to see you breakdown what X-Men would be about and if Storm would be in BP3 and her role considering she’s been announced for X-Men already. Am I the only person who loves the whole cast? I have no issues with it. I'm familiar with every single one them except and Christopher and Adam because I haven't watched their stuffs. But I'm pretty sure they are amazing. And I love the whole cast dude. They all are amazing actors and especially most of them are theatre actors. So I have hopes. I loved Sadie's performance. She was amazing. She had an incredible screen presence. Like this movie had Tom, Zendaya, Mark, Jon so yeah she has done a great job with Jean. Can't wait to see others. Saw someone saying that they loved the movie and also Jean but didn't like her acting. I mean yeah not everyone has to like everything but if you lo ed the movie then you also have to love Sadie's performance because she's literally the heart of the movie. So you have to love her performance to love the movie. Because if she over acted or like had an underwhelming performance then the movie would have fall flat. Although it's my opinion. You don't have to agree with it. And please MCU I want you to do justice with these amazing female characters. And please for God sake I want Jean and Ororo to be bestie forever. Who are always there for each other.
I'm loving all the casting except for Professor X and Cyclops due to not being familiar with their work but im pretty sure they killed it in their auditions. As for Storm, I love it! She looks the part and she's a theater performer so I know she's legit.
When you get the chance coy. I don’t think he’s getting appreciation because he’s my favorite character in marvel. We gotta talk about the ghost rider. Ghost rider is such a cool but anti hero especially how we got Mephisto in iron heart so also leads us how he might be the villain depending which variation of ghost rider Ryan is playing. I understand the x men is such a huge thing but my boy Ghost rider deserves some love. In my opinion. I wanna see your thoughts on him coy. 🤔

That's 616 Jean Grey.
The universe Post Secret Wars will not be the 616. For the sake of keeping things like the comics, let's call it the "Prime" Universe.

It's not 616 Jean Grey, Its PRIME Jean Grey.

Oh yeah, they don't exist.
The X-Men in the 2028 movie WONT BE 616 X-Men.
They are going to be PRIME X-Men.
We are moving into the Prime universe after Secret Wars or at least something like it. Those who know comics understand exactly where I'm coming from.
We don't need to explain where they come from. We don't need to redeem Jean. None of that.
We WILL NOT be in the same universe. None of that matters.
We are going to be in a NEW UNIVERSE after Secret Wars.
I don't know why nobodies addressing this. Everybody is just like "How will they address the X-Men forming" "How will they redeem Jean"
None of these questions matter after Secret Wars. Our universe is going to be ripped apart and recreated by Franklin Richards as a NEW TIMELINE.
One where mutants and the X-Men HAVE ALWAYS existed. There won't be any need to explain where they came from. We're going to be in a new universe after Doom rips apart the 616 to create Battle World and Franklin Richards recreates the Sacred Timeline.
I'm definitely concerned with the casting of Inde Navarette, Maya Boyd, & even Sade Sink.
The first two aren't what I would consider 1to1 or 10of10 visual likenesses, & the third although is a closer visual likeness she has a different vibe than what we would come to expect from that role.
All I can say is I hope the casting works out. They had to impress in auditions & with their prior work to get these roles. So I'm automatically assuming the acting chops are there. I'll be interested to see how they'll play their roles.

Coy do you think is possible they might make Spidey into a mutant? They never explained how he got his powers in the MCU canon, and him going through genetic alterations during Brand New Day, just as they introduced Jean, makes it kind of suspicious….
I learned from Heath Ledger's Joker not to judge casting. I'll wait to see the performances.
I think I would rather they present Emma as being the headmistress of a rival school, rather than the White Queen of the Hellfire Club.
Also, I think I'd rather they just avoid the whole Dark Phoenix of it all this time around.
I'm looking forward to seeing the new Colossus and Nightcrawler. I also hope that they don't fumble and rush into Dark Phoenix like the previous films did..
I love the casting plus this gives a reason why the X-Men in the MCU did not appear in all these Avengers movies. They are just emerging.
I know 2 of these people… not really hooked. then again, I'm pretty much done with marvel. guess the doom movies will be the last ones I will see. nothing of what I have heard about the next phases even slightly interests me.

I think we don't get Magneto for a while. At least not this first movie. My guess is Frost will be the foil to Xavier. She'll want to side with mutants no matter the human cost and Charles will want to find a middle ground where mutants and humans are equals.
Rogue was a huge swing and a miss.
I'm very happy with these castings. Especially unknown Storm, Driver Sinister's and Weaving Frost. I think Navarrette will do a great job, but there's a point you made talking about Storm that I think applies to Rogue and we're now getting our second great Rogue actress who is not at all similar to Rogue physically. In the end it won't matter for the actual character, but Rogue is tall compared to the other women on the team other than Storm and is not at all slight in frame. Inde, like Paquin, will literally be the smallest person on the team and that's not at all how she's represented in the comics. That's literally my only beef and it's not even one I'm worried about, just more of a pet peeve that pretty jacked, tall character will once again be played by the smallest actor in the cast.
Coy, have you thought about teaching a Comics History course at USC or UCLA? I think that would be awesome!
