So today, I’m going to be making some liquid oxygen. Oxygen is normally a gas, but it can be turned into a liquid using liquid nitrogen. It’s a bit hard to see, but liquid oxygen is faintly blue. This is very dangerous, but what’s fun to do, is to throw a match into it. As a liquid, oxygen is an even more powerful oxidizer and it can sometimes react explosively.
WARNING: Liquid oxygen is extremely dangerous. It’s an extremely strong oxidizer and can react explosively.

Lox is so volatile when not contained.. I doubt he'll replicate more of these experiments
I'm 65, and never knew that liquid oxygen is blue
Very dangerous BUT
Is it possible to turn it into a solid?
Les go too mar
I still remember in 5th grade science class, a guy from NASA demonstrated this in reverse. He had some cotton in a beaker, soaked in alcohol. He lit the cotton, then stood on a step ladder and drizzled in liquid oxygen from about 4 feet up. A rocket flame shot out about 3 feet, and it roared like a little rocket engine! "…and that's how rocket engines work!" I will NEVER forget that demo! This was a couple of years before Apollo 11, so interest was high. 🙂
How miraculous it is to live in a world where oxygen exists, and is one of the essential components of fire
Why's Nitorgen a middle-man here? Just do to the O2 what you did to Nitorgen??
Can…can I breathe it?
Well no shit, that's why they use for rockets 😂
Looks refreshing, the forbidden Gatorade
drops the match in the tube
Rocket engine noises
Like sky blue. Curious.
Can you drink it?
🎉These AI videos are getting out of control ffs just tested this on 8 individuals on oxys and all they did was complain 🎉
"…and it can sometimes react explosively"
The test tube missed it cue
Can you breathe in it tho??
Ok next time lets make hard water
Make liquid ice
"Yo bro what u drinking"
"Air"
Carbon filter
You’re obsessed with liquid nitrogen
Match got obliterated 😭
Fire burns oxygen, how surprising! Totally not one of the things that define fire
So cool video
Lowuid oxygen is not a more powerful oxidator than gaseous oxygen. It is just much more dense and concentrated.
"Really dangerous" and "Fun-to-do" being in the same sentence is the absolute classic of Nile
I want to drink the forbidden Gatorade
How Hot Did That Burn ?????
You wild and crazy guy.
what happens if you drink it
A blob duck
And do you know what that small part of the match head consists of that you poured out? It consists of molten glass bound together with potassium chloride slag. I'll take my more than 17,000 likes now which is how much the top comment here got for simply saying they like that it's blue. Thanks.
Let's see what happens when you put grease in Lox. As an Aircraft maintenance engineer it was always a no-no to grease oxygen components. I would like to see what happens if you do.
RECRUITING PEOPLE FROM NILE RED. JOIN THE COUNCIL!
Hmmm using the fart experiment aparatus i see
Drink it
And that's how you make rocket fuel the end
Do liquid ozone like ChemicalForce or one of the other ChemTubers with the funny voice (I forget…) did. It's a pretty blue color!
Nile has steel hands 4 sure XD
I expected it to burn much faster.
So why is the match head able to survive?
I think we have different definitions for "fun."
Where tf did did the match go.😢😢✌️
As a liquid, oxygen is an even more powerful oxydizer….well…I mean , it IS oxygen….
I was most surprised that he picked up the sub zero tube with his bare hand.
Can I drink liquid oxygen?
"Now, this is very dangerous, but what's fun to do is throw a lighted match into it!"
