I would say that the boomers are exaggerating about kids and their bad behavior on ebikes but this new generation is probably the worst produced 😂 they should require them to get licenses, insurance and training and be over 18👌
This is a perfect time for younger citizens to start riding regular non electric bikes to improve their overall health.
Students are residents too.
Not surprising it's California and no one there has any balls. If they parked by my house when they got out of school, none of them would ever run again. What a state of idiots, and you let it happen?
“Rules for thee. But not for me.. or my kids.”
-Newport Beach parents
Gee, if only they could have foreseen this.
Next, they will banned kids going to school because they're too uncontrollable. 😂
We really need to bring back state institutions for old people
Why schools don't let kids park the ebikes in campus? Why?
Adults of strange kids nearly always have a conflict; I get it, kids can be loud, reckless, annoying, etc., Sometimes, I feel the same way; I personally feel kids are just irresponsible. But I too realize I was once a kid; I know what it was like, the disconnect of being a kid and dealing with strange adults yelling at times. I personally feel that adults today have too many issues going on making their lives troublesome without having to deal with kids, but toss a bunch of kids in the mix, then it just becomes a volatile issue. Kids on e-bikes are now a new issue that adults have to be more careful about when driving; kids riding rechlessly on streets and sidewalks, it is all a driver to do to keep an eye on a e-bike… it is not a good combination; kids, a lot of them, who feel they are entitled to race along the road but have yet to learn the road safety rules… it is not a good combo; it is not just an e-bike, it is 60lb to 100lb kids on 40 to 80lb e-bikes cruising along at 30mph — it is a road & safety hazard made up of very dangerous heavy and dangerous activities. But kids need to be forced to learn e-bike safety and adults need to be patient in the process, only because e-bikes are not going away anytime soon.
“I don’t like that my babies are very vulnerable to people that are better people than they will ever be” 😂💩🤮💩🤮💩🤮💩
Schools don't care about kids this is not new
This is hilarious about the bike parking. You just eliminated dozens of cars that would have to park instead, in only maybe 1.5 parking spots of space!
But I think the school should realize the benefits of the e-bikes. They saving parking, reduce commute costs, traffic, and create community via a social activity (riding e-bikes in a group) is overall a net positive.
Get them a bicycle. Then they can park it at school. Ban kids under high-school age from having e-bikes entirely.
Libs in Newport government, vote correct.
Citizen complains people are parking their property on public land they think they should exclusively be able to park their property.
KEEP THE E BIKES THE HELL OUT OF NEW PORT BEACH, E BIKE RIDERS HAVE ZERO RESPECT.
The unintended consequences of this e-bike ban is that criminals will have free reign to steal the e-bikes, take the expensive batteries, or even rob the children of their money and bikes.
Prepaid monthly parking passes for your ebikes, 50 dollars – secure parking, CCTV monitored.
Ten bikes per month would bring in a nice extra income….
Just kick the bikes over, flatten the tires , what the kids can't walk to school any more.
Rich people problems
Wow— your child should not be riding an e-bike, but you know, why would you stop your child from riding a motorized vehicle between the ages of 12 & 14.
Law abiding and rule following means abiding by all of the laws and rules. Not just the ones with which you agree or the ones that don’t inconvenience you.
Good. These kids have been havoc
Good. These kids have no respect for the rules of the road. Make these lazy kids walk
I live on the main drag for these kids route to school.
They are extremely disrespectful and vulgar.
Entitled.
This is a parent issue
Are the parents buying their kids $1,500 – $3,000 e-bikes the same parents complaining about the affordability crisis?
Aren’t most of those E bikes illegal. None of those kids have licenses so they drive from sidewalk to street endangering them everyone and themselves in the process.
The schools banned them for one reason . Lawsuits . Kids get hurt on school property with an electric scooter or bike. The parents wanna sue. The kids can ride them on their own time. . Summer. School holidays . When they get home from school.
Well, pick 'em up as scrap metal. Then no no no not to park in front of people's property
What we have bicycles, there used to be roads now. Why can't these E bike people electric vehicles right on the street? Just select those right bicycles
The problem was never e-bikes, the problem is e-motos. These nationwide problems would not have emerged if parents had been responsible enough to purchase Class 1 e-bikes instead of these electric motorcycles. The e-motos have stubby little cranks that are useless for pedaling. Just window dressing by the manufacturer to get their e-motorcycles to seem like an e-bike. A class 1 e-bike requires pedaling and the motor merely assists. E-motos are for lazy brats.
So, manufacturers skirted around e-bike classifications. Ignorant parents didn’t get informed on e-bike classifications and regulations. Retailers feign that they merely sell what customers ask for. Underdeveloped teenage brains do what teenage brains do and the inevitable predictable problems arise. Now we have civic leaders and school administrators who also know nothing about e-bike classifications banning all e-bikes, including the legit and responsible ones for the troubles caused by ignorant parents buying illegal e-motos for their irresponsible brats.
Have the kids walk, run or take the bus…its healthier anyway…
Why are they unchained? Hmmm nice resale value now.
It's really time to ban people.
There is no difference between these kids riding those e-bikes, and riding bicycles. If there were 50 kids in your neighborhood on bicycles all over the place what are you gonna ban bicycles? Every single e-bike that you see in this video tops out at the same speeds as a bicycle. These aren't high-powered e-bikes at all. The people w/ high-powered ones doing crazy stuff are outliers. Leave these kids alone!
Why is it that government officials cannot think one step ahead before they ban something. Where did they think they were going to park the ebikes after the ban ? Did they think the kids would all just start walking to school. And who is going to be responsible when the bikes are either vandalized as in punctured tires, tagged by gangs, or lit on fire just to make a point. What will they do when it rains ? If one bike catches fire while it's locked to a bunch of other bikes the persons house they are in front of may also catch fire and then you have a lawsuit on your hands. Why not just treat them like you would a regular bike and let them park on campus somewhere out of the way and not in use by the students, hey how about the library. everyone knows books are obsolete now.
definition of 1st world problems.
first world problems
Imma start a new business. Valet service for rich kids' ebikes
So just ride a regular bicycle and park on campus.
The middle ground is having kids ride a pedal bike to school and E-bike for pleasure.
