The new 2026 Nissan Z Nismo Manual brings a much-requested addition to Nissan’s high-performance sports car.
Motoring Journalist Jeremy Taylor heads to Sonoma Raceway to be one of the first to drive the new manual version on camera, putting the latest Z Nismo through its paces on track.
The current-generation Nissan Z revived the classic formula of a powerful V6 engine, rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox. However, when the more powerful Nismo version arrived, it was initially offered exclusively with an automatic transmission.
Now, Nissan has listened to enthusiasts and brought the six-speed manual to the Z Nismo.
With 420 bhp, rear-wheel drive and 0-60 mph in around 4.5 seconds, does the new Nissan Z Nismo Manual deliver the driving experience enthusiasts have been waiting for?
Watch Jeremy’s first look from Sonoma Raceway to find out.

No one with a DCT can give themself any credit for being able to shift proficiently. When I shift near-matching the flywheel to pressure plate engagement, it's a feeling impossible to have with a DCT.
Too bad Nismo1983
You and some others don't get it. As a former owner of a C8 Vette and sold because it didn't have a manual; not all drivers are in it for the quickest shifts or .2 of a second quicker to 60. I enjoy shifting. I am more comfortable with not having a trans failure and suffering the far more costly repair when owning an automatic. That C8 reminded me of having a video game controller to shift…or do nothing, letting the trans do it.
For all that prefer a manual, it's about human engagement over a machine using software.
The Nismo 6MT is model year 2027, not '6. I sold my 2024 Nismo a few months ago to make room for the manual. Brought it home last week. The manual a party. I'm not interested in strip or track. I'm into a fun driving experience, so don't tell me what's better or what wins😅
I was shopping for a Z Performance 6MT and I couldn't find one near me. A local dealer got a 2024 Z Nismo in with only 2,100 miles on it, and I bought it for $16,000 below MSRP. The 9AT offers smooth, fast shifting, it makes the Z Nismo easy to drive even in stop-and-go commuter traffic, and my Z Nismo gets about 30 mpg cruising on the Interstate at 80mph. It's awesome that the 6MT is being offered, but the 9AT Z Nismo still kicks ass. Great job Nissan.
Automatic is the king now in all performance Categories people just talk nobody buy manual’s no more even the sale are down because if u smart u get automatic especially now it’s not 80’ or 90’ no more 6 speed manual or 9 speed automatic with Launch control 🚀 Common sense u know who win. Because think there cool because they shift there own ⚙️ gears they not cool when get destroyed or Embarrass by automatic’s!
Lol this was a review?
