I support all our immigration enforcement agencies taking firm action against individuals who violate the immigration laws of this country and enter the country illegally
There is a legal process to come here, and the laws of this nation deserve to be respected and if someone is entering the country without permission they are violating the law of the land. If ICE or another law enforcement officer asks me for identification, I will cooperate. I understand that these men and women have a difficult job and put themselves at risk enforcing our laws.

Oswaldo Pirela, the San Diego Padres' minor-league catching coordinator, who was detained by Border Patrol at El Paso International Airport on August 16, 2026.
Pirela entered the U.S. legally from Venezuela in September 2014 with authorization until February 2018; DHS states he overstayed by more than eight years and was not carrying documentation proving legal status at the time of contact.
His family asserts he has a pending asylum application, a valid work permit issued in 2024 and valid until 2029, and has been contributing to society, while DHS clarifies that work authorization and pending claims do not grant legal immigration status.

A valid ID is not impossible to get without being a citizen… In New Mexico we citizens almost had to get passports to fly because the state was giving drivers licenses to every illegal in the state.
