I generally find that there is usually a very good reason why things are built in a particular way….because that works! Then there is always a smart arse to tell you that is wrong!
I had no idea that they were intended to prevent gases from going up. I assumed they were only there for if ya accidentally dropped something important down the drain.
Hello pardon me for my bad writing I have no clue abiut plumbing. But, I have a restroom sink that STAYS "clogged" for lack of better word. I have already tried clog chemiccals from store and I also tried snaking and air and water in the plubming. It clears it up for a few days and the sink works normally. And then it gets clogged again.
My house smells randomly of horrible sewage when people use the shower or the other sink.
Wow. So it isn’t my fault my house smells randomly. It’s my neighborhoods collective sewage. Great. 😂
"pitha gorus". some might say "pie thag orous". he also created a theorum called pythagorean theorum. perhaps youve seen it in geometry class. A^2 + B^2 = C^2
Speedrunning converting people to libertarianism I see.
"You have to get permitting permits depending on your municipality".
How about I handle my own damn house?
"it's illegal"
Then the laws must change.
"it's dangerous"
meaningful freedom always is.
S trap is for shit and P trap is for poo
Really because there is one under my sink right now.
And every toilet is a s-trap and under every shower is a s-trap
Pitha grourous what happened to editing standards.
What a stupid post, another case of only in America
and I keep doing them,
AI voices AND their bad pronunciations suck.
Nearly all mobile homes used to use the AAV type of drain system. None of them extend as high as you say is regulation, and they worked very well. The only time I ever detected a problem was in a master bathroom where there was a double sink and only one was ever used. The problem was, as you mentioned, the water had evaporated in the unused sink trap. That was an easy fix and it made people aware that they needed to run water into that sink periodically.
Why wasn't pipe angling mentioned? Most drain pipes are connected at an angle that helps to prevent Seward gasses from leaking into a house/apartment as well as the traps
I always thought S Trap is to save things you drop in the sink – like a ring.
Methane is not toxic bruh
Avalon California the vent holes on the front street man hole covers were plugged by recent paving. A plumber was fixing a nearby sewre. 6 man hole covers blew higher than the palm trees. The only danage was one landed on the hood of a city truck. I had the great luck to see it.
Electrical wires in a sewer? Which country would be that stupid…oh…definitely the USA…which other country besides the USA would be that stupid? In The Netherlands we do not have electrical cables is sewers because that would be stupid.
a tarp!
As a german plumber higher the Vent above the highest window because the gas rise up and when you open the window above itsn't dangerous but it stinks.

Pitha Goris?!!? omg im dying
I prefer bottle traps. Much easier if something like jewellery accidentally gets drop down the plughole
Properly installed they work fine.
Flame-able
0:06 Short answer, they're not illegal. We just had a brand new house built in the last 3 years and they added them to every single sink in the house. By default. And this is in North American construction.
S-traps are not allowed anymore…?????? ….. what a bullshit !!
Pisss aaarrrssseee orrrrr ass's
P I E t h a ggggg oooorrrrrr. Us
Methane and ammonia, but nothing about hydrogen sulfide? Thanks for saving me 5 minutes!
Who cares I installed probably over 50000 over the years
A I slop. Can't speak English.
S traps are very common in New Zealand and do not cause any problems. Plumber for the last 50 years.
Only Americans think that this is correct. There’s nothing wrong with using an s trap.
Anyone outside the US, ignore this video.
Pitta-gaurus
Never had an s trap syphon like that
If your traps ever dry out add water to them and then pour some kind of oil down the drain, olive oil or canola oil or anything will stay on top of the water and prevent it from evaporating! An s-trap is also if your pipe has too much grade, for example an inch and a half pipe can't have more than an inch and a half of fall
