How to adjust a Rain Bird R-VAN Adjustable Rotary Nozzle

One of the best things about Rain Bird’s R-VANS is how easy they are to adjust by hand.

In this short video, Clint shows you how to adjust the arc and the radius of a Rain Bird R-VAN 45-270 degree nozzle without having to use a pressure reducer.

  1. The left "fixed" side is also ajdustable. You just grab the riser/stem while the sprinkler is functioning, and rotate to the left to move the "stop" to the left, or right to move it to the right. THEN you adjust the right stop by pushing down on the ring and adjusting left or right. Adjusting the "fixed" left stop was in important detail not shown in this video.

  2. It starts to ''click'' when going clockwise. I can still move it a little when it clicks. Is that the extra cm length or it first click = max and the rest is just a warning to not move anymore?

  3. Just installed these R van heads they spin fast then after a few seconds they slow down is it too low pressure ? I’m getting 70psi and only 5 heads per zone if you pull up and flush they spin fast again but only for 5 secs then they slow right down

  4. The rotators are new to me, so I tried one in my front yard, and it seemed like it did a great job of spraying 6 to 15 feet. But it seem to miss anything 1 to 3 and 4 feet away. Almost like anything close is not gonna get any water. Have you found that to be true at all?

  5. My sprinklers haven’t been used for almost 2 years due to getting lost in overgrown lawn. I’ve scalped the lawn now and have found them again but the pressure is really bad. How do I fix them?
