There will always remain more links (2 or 3 more) in the 12 o'clock section than in the 6 o'clock section if you want the clasp to remain centered. It's the nature of the Human wrist section. Also, be aware that most of the times what looks just like a screwhead is actually the top of a chamfered split pin! If you wrongly try to unscrew it, it won't come out of course, you will destroy its tip and most certainly jam it in place. Push it out according to the arrow, never in the split end. Double check before pushing.
You don't need to hammer the pins back in. Insert them back as deep as they go, them push the rest in with a toothpick with the tip cut to measure. A very little oil will help. Hammer the toothpick proper, do not hammer steel on steel. You must lay the bracelet on a plastic slotted support.
That often suffices. Stay away from hammers, hammering the pin will inevitably hammer the link side too. I'm sure you don't want that. Clerks do it simply because it's not their watch and it's faster. In fact they don't give a damn and that's why you must become proficient at doing this yourself. Eventually no one will do it better than you and the end result will be just perfect. But take your time.
Note that brands like Rolex, Tudor or Fortis do use screws. Then it's a breeze. 😀
On the other hand, Seiko Prospexes tend to use an absolutely obnoxious system with a 2 mm tubular part that secures the non chamfered pin in place. If you're not aware, you won't even notice the little prick and will lose it before you know it existed. Then of course the pin will never lock and you won't understand why. 🤔 Why they complicated the whole process like that is beyond me. 🤬
I really dislike these spinning pins because they very often tend to slip out in the first turn and scratch the link deeply. Do not use them, use a punch and a slotted support instead. It's much safer.
Above all, take one full afternoon or one full day if need be but don't mar the bracelet. That is what matters. Scratches won't come out. Work slowly and safely.

How to adjust the watch strap without pins at the links?
How do you adjust the watch strap without any pins to be removed?
You started wrong. You should remove the ones ate 6 first, not evenly. You know shit
Thanks got a cheap watch and was having trouble
Its a watch strap not a bracelet
This worked perfectly
Thanks so much 🎉
It sits to tight and to low on the wrist but still thank you
This is not working bro
To ensure the watch sits correctly on the wrist, please remove an extra link from the 6 o'clock position to create a deliberate offset
It always better to leave some space between bracelet and wrist… especially when weather is warmer or hotter in summer..
I use the tool and get it halfway out, but then I try to pull the rest out and it doesn’t budge!
Even amount from both sides ❌️
Equal amount from both sides ✅️
Thanks. This was very helpful.
Great video, I was able to adjust my watch successfully
Thanks😊
Thank you, just recently bought a watch and it came with that tool and I didn't know what it was for
Just a little warning: there are straps that have faux screws. So they are actually straight pinned, but the pins have like a fake screw ridge
What is this watch called and price?
I've already known how to do this, however I've never considered taking off links from both sides… 👍🏽
Can I push the pins without that device in anyway?
Personally, I try to have one or two links more on the 12 o'clock end of the bracelet, rather than removing equal parts on both ends.
Having the top end slightly longer allows the shorter end (the one that's pointing towards you) to "pull" the watch head in your direction; this prevents the watch head from rotating outward, away from your face.
This way, you don't have to adjust the watch on your wrist all the time.
👍❤
Thank you
God bless you so much for sharing your knowledge. I bought a watch and I was just thinking of going to the repair to adjust the handles. Since I didn't even know the purpose of that link removal tool and I almost threw it. With your information, I have easily adjusted my watch with no struggle at all.
Thank you man.
Thank you so much! This is very clear and helpful. I'm able to easily adjust my watch strap!
Do you need to apply loctite to the threads of the screw in pins? If so, what type? Thanks!
