*About _Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas_*
It is 1971, and journalist Raoul Duke barrels toward Las Vegas—accompanied by a trunkful of contraband and his slightly unhinged Samoan attorney, Dr. Gonzo—to cover a motorcycle race. What should be a cut-and-dried journalistic assignment quickly descends into a feverish psychedelic odyssey. Director Terry Gilliam and an all-star cast, headlined by Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro, show no mercy in bringing Hunter S. Thompson’s excoriating dissection of the American way of life to the screen, creating a film both hilarious and savage.

Terry Gilliam has never taken acid?
Too bad Hunter didn't get a chance to take acid and watch this movie, it's hilarious and it's insane just how every little thing, like the choice of the shirts they are wearing in the car seem to be the perfect choice for trippin lol
Hunter not knowing who Toby is, while writing for the movie and casting Johnny & Benicio is wild?! Must have not remembered or been the psychedelics! lol
I had to turn subtitles on, because all I could hear when HST spoke was 'grrrrr grrrrrr rrrrrrrr grrrrrr rrrrrrrr rrrrrrr grrrrrrr'.
Tobey Targaryen
Let’s get some peanuts, man. That’s one thing thats good for you.
Hunter S T—– LOSER
Terry Gilliam never taking LSD is so hard to believe.
The cig being lit, the lighter against the table… the deep smoke breaths… amazing recording…
Were you tripping in Vegas? Probably, but it could've been mescaline. 😂😂🚬🚬
The way Thompson says, "Oh GOD!" as Depp puts the gigantic tab in his mouth 😂
Hunter S. Thompson was and still is a treasure of a human😂. Johnny Depp did a great job at portraying "The Duke" too.
For loving the book, i thought the movie was a cringy mess filled with camp and goofiness. A missed chance for a masterpiece. Mayne i just have a great imagination and felt the movie as being almost disrespectful 😂😂😂
This 4K UHD remastered version is waay too overly-saturated and highly-contrasted. Couldn’t have been the vision Terry Gilliam had in mind when shooting this, back in the 1990’s. Why ruin was what already good enough?!
Painfully trying to explain movies to an asshole. That’s all I hear.
Criterion and you have two nobodies commenting…
I've never taken drugs myself, but I've often spoke and hung out with guys who have/are still doing them. They've usually described the whole process as first being on some kinda adrenaline filled "high" before screeching into what they've described as a sorta "comedown" as the effects of the drugs wear off. This movie, to me, always felt like it represented that quite well: first half feels fast paced, even fun – albeit somewhat terrifying at times thanks to some of the hallucinagenics – but the second half feels like it's slowed down and dragging, whilst the darker side of drug use kinda takes its toll.
Thompson sounds like a pretentious tool abd a horrible person to talk to.
What excellent insight into his thoughts on the movie. It does well to separate him from the caricatures that Depp and Del Toro portrayed.
toby mcguire is a tripped out legolas
"You never know when you're gonna get defined"
Anyone who doesn't believe that's how it is should just take a double dose of Golden Teacher.
It is exactly the way Johnny Depp sees the world… especially the carpet in the lobby!
I watched the movie back then while high (just on weed) and thought it was exaggerated…
I couldn't relate to it but after magic mushrooms… it’s exactly like that!!
"That is a living god damn creep, a jack-ass!" brutal!
I need to see this
He sounds like Marcus lol.
His brain was completely rotted by this time, and was too used to Depp sucking up to him.
