‘I couldn’t let everybody else die’: Flydubai pilot speaks out

Smit Machchhar, the hero Flydubai captain who fought off a savage attack by his copilot, kept fighting because he could not “let everybody else die,” he said in his first public remarks since Wednesday’s suspected hijacking attempt.

A horrific mid-air catastrophe on flight FZ 1073 heading to Tel Aviv was averted in a stunning turn of events on Wednesday when passengers bravely rushed into the cockpit and stand-in pilots regained control of the aircraft.

  1. I just listened to the entire interview, it was a real profound suspense, this story is obviously one of the greatest unusual occurrences that has kept an entire world spellbound. Captain Smit you have done everything to save almost everyone and the aircraft, which is commendable beyond what words could say. We pray for your speedy recovery, from you most close immediate neighbour Srilanka.

  2. You need to publish this in all so I'll medi Ghaith al Ghaith and uncle of the current son king from the Machtum family are the president and chairman of the f,ydDubai airline and carry the ultimate responsibility of this debacle, and they both right now being "shilded" criminaly by the king's court. They need to go. I know UAE is trying desperately to become a a global Flights and tourism empire, but incompetitively dealing with intense pilot shortage since the are a small country of only 300',00o people internally so they need to rely heavily on expat pilots and airborne stewardess. The writing/red alert was "on the wall", several years ago a d you need to report that. One last analysis, that you failed to mention, if the Omani pilot would have not reached Israel and crashed into a Saudia town, everybody would have blamed Israel, and yelled criminal conspiracy and there would have been 'hell" to pay.

  3. S A it wasn't his time God was beside him telling him u brave n strong so that's what saved him n his passengers alhumduilla u alive speedy recovery my hats off for u brother🙌🙌❤❤🎉

  4. Some Palestinian supporters claim that this is an Israeli skit. I can’t believe they do not understand how disrespectful this statement is for the survivors. America/Israel should bring a new cockpit safety law named after captain Smit.

  5. This is the kinda of propaganda i hate with these kind of events. The cabin crew been talked about are blacks specifically from Kenya. I see racist people in that plane. An omani copilot attacks the captain mid air but the passengers still blame cabin crew

  6. Absolute HERO 💯 🎉
Awards For Pilot & All His Saviour's; Absolute Earth Angels All Of You!!! ❤❤❤❤🥹🥲🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙏🙏🙏

  7. Surely…If you kill a Man, your blood will be shed for in the image of God He made Man(Genesis 9:5,6). God ordained death for killers. NOW, THE DEATH PENALTY should return back to the World Laws asap!

  8. Copilot Stubs a PILOT. God saved everyone on this flight. The men who pinned down the attaker, the passenger pilots, controls the flight. THIS IS JUST A MIRACLE

  9. It takes western media 5 days after the attack to call Captain Smit a hero. Because he's Hindu and Indian. If he's name was Abdul western media would have been praising him from day one
