After 5 + years of hinting, wishing and hoping, it finally happened. Thanks to Jess and a few others we mention in the video I finally have the Festool Domino!

You should rennovate the old post office in ohakune! its for sale!
Jess is the best. Scott is the best. Can’t wait to watch everything that gets built using it!
Ive always said I wont buy one, but man if someone bought me one I'd be drilling loose tenons into everything I could find just for fun! Congrats! You should count yourself blessed – not cause of the tool but cause of the thoughtful supportive partner.
Quick tip: NEVER EVER change the mortise "width" setting when the machine is turned OFF, as this will/could break the machine.
Only adjust the width when the machine is turned ON. Something to do with the gear mechanism inside
respect on helping the bee chap … thank you kindly for yu vids chap … nice one … peace
Jess is a legend.
I have the DF700 with the Seneca Woodworking adapter so I can use all DF500 and DF 700 cutters. I absolutely love it but it is a bit heavy compared to the DF500. I decided large structural joinery was more important than the additional weight! Congrats Scott and well done Jess. I cannot believe you went this long without one! Cheers from Vermont, USA
some outdoor rocking chairs for your deck. or a rocking loveseat.
I knew it was a domino setup before I even hit play on the video. Happy birthday, Scoot! I’ve been following you for years and really appreciate your work. You’re both amazing!
Happy 40th mate 👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Hell of a woman Jess 😊
food for tought. Nice you finaly got one.! Have one too gamechanger! i make a lot of small tables with it.
When you want o make some dominos take a 6mm radius endmill and router and some wood of choice. Size accordingly to the hole that will been made.
We make em from ash or oak rest.
Regards
Scott, happy 40th birthday! Enjoy your Domino. It is a fine piece of machinery. Jess, that was a brilliant idea!
However, when you compare the Domino with a biscuit jointer, you compare apples and oranges. The biscuit jointer was invented in Switzerland right after WW2, when furniture made from particle boards came up. The Lamello as it was called, was intended to create an easy way to join those particle boards. These boards are in itself not very stable, and it was merely impossible to just glue joints. Won't hold. The Lamello soaks up glue, swlls by the moisture and creates a structural bridge that is similar to the material of the boards. This job it served well and ist still doing a good job as a joint for MDF.
Using it in woodworking makes no sense as a joint from a structural point of view. But it can be a tremendous alignment-help in glue-ups of larger boards, because it can prevent the pieces from shifting. So for alignment, we have an overlap between the biscuit and the Domino. Especially when you select a broader hole for the domino, so you still can correct longitudally like with the bicuit.
The true home turf of the Domino is however the mortise and tenon joint – like you explained.
Hence I would definitely also keep the bisguit jointer, because it has it's justification in applications that do not require the strength (and the higher price) of a Domino. Plus in particle boards the Domino drillbits get dull faster, becuase of the resin, that holds the particles together. Here a carbide tipped blade of the biscuit jointer is the better choice.

Happy birthday, dear Scott, and have lots of fun with your Domino! What a great gift from Jess 💚
Nice surprise, anyway i clean up wood glue with baby wipes, cheap, easy, throw away.
What a jump in tools now needs lamello for collection.
Happy Bday, don’t forget that these standard domino’s are for interior use. There are also hardwood domino’s (MAU) for exterior/humid conditions. Enjoy the tool
You're about to become VERY busy by the sounds of it mate! Happy 40th!
First time you use it, it hits you that it just works with no messing and is a cheat code to the fastest squarest and strongest joints.
I knew what it was from the title, Jess is the best <3
Happy birthday Scott!! Found you during the pandemic and haven’t missed an episode since! Thanks for the amazing content! Still waiting for a quarter pipe for the driveway build!
You set him up and he fell for it…like a domino.
Should have gotten the XL with the Seneca adapters you can do all of them, I built my roubo work bench base with big tenons, it’s a beast!
Excllent! Congratulations and we're looking forward to seeing the cool things you'll build!
Enjoy the Domino!!
Have both festoon domino machines and can say the best machines in my kit
I think he should build a wardrobe and some side tables 😜
Love my Domino, it just makes joinery so easy.
You're a lucky man Scott. Jess is a lovely lady…
I’d love to see Scott build a babies cot.
She found and gave him a round-to-it. 😅
Now get busy on all those projects.
Happy Birthday, Scott!
My girl got me one too and I know exactly how your feeling!
Happy birthday! Can't wait to see what you build with it! We need some cabinetry and wardrobes – start with those so we can get tips/tricks 🙂
Cabinets will fly with that thing ❤
