  1. Come to Africa IKEA, your generous price tags are amazing. I’ll be your promoter(voice) whenever you arrive. Do you want to know why I want your company here in Africa?

    We’ll, it’s because IKEA a lot.

  2. I haven’t had a single problem with IKEA power outlets, temp/humidity sensors, water sensors, and remotes using just Matter over Thread with a HomePod Mini as the Thread border router and all control through HomeKit. No IKEA app. The Meross HomeKit power outlets I have are nowhere near as reliable.

  3. I bet this will all be fixed in a few months with a couple of updates. IKEA will own this market in a couple of years if they keep the prices low. Pretty simple actually

  4. these videos are not just entertaining, but so good when trying to find present for people who are tech savvy, my bf would love the tea light candles ! this was such a find !!!

  5. Arun! Can you maybe consider doing a cool video like this one on the Home Assistant? I use Apple stuff, but migrating to Android, and I have been considering buying a Home Assistant hub to connect my smart stuff

  6. I disagree with the final sentiment somewhat.

The IKEA matter linkage is brilliant and helps my disabled sister via the IKEA Home Assistant and has hardly had any issues whatsoever . . . . once they learned to read the instructions!!

I think a lot of these reviews are a case of PICNIC – Problem In Chair Not In Computer, as users guestimate what they're doing after partially reading the instructions. My sister and her husband and her son . . . and her daughter all missed pairing a Bilresa with the cover off! They left crap reviews, argued over Facebook with people, some agreed with them though, that is was crap etc, etc, etc.

A few weeks later, when visiting, I had the Bilresa remote paired in 4 minutes after taking off the front cover and pressing the pair button, despite 4 other people trying and failing, simply because they skim read the instructions!

I very much doubt it is a 50% fail rate, but more an indicator of how people can't or don't want to read to learn how to use something. If IKEA made it mandatory that a staff member installed at your home every item purchased, I wonder what the fail rate would be?

  7. FYI Ikea knows about this and they now updated the affected devices, as you can see they have filed new requests with the fcc. Those don't have issues. Update needed on the upcoming situation.

  8. The new matter enabled ones are pure junk compared to their older TRADFRIs. My bedroom is covered with Tradfri (around 2023ish) light bulbs, and it hasnt let me down yet. Easy and quick setup. Meanwhile my upstairs living room is with the newer matter enabled light bulbs. They were HARD to set up, it didnt want to recognize it until randomly out of nowhere it wanted to, the remote takes AGES to recognize “oh, a button was pressed, maybe i should turn the light on”. Therefore; i believe the new smart home tech from IKEA had a downfall.

  9. Well, as a HUE long term user I have paid a lot for their products but they all work and I never had any connectivity issues. Some lights are already 5-6 years old and function exactly as on day 1.

  10. I have to say, 4 months after the video the pairing process for the single temp and humiditi seonsor got a lot better and easyer. And I also have a lot less problems with conncetions. So it is improving. Only thing that still causes trouble is one ikea matter light bulb.

  11. I have a couple of Zigbee remotes from Ikea, but I'm not switching everything over to Matter until things work at least as reliably as they would do on Zigbee. If Ikea have cheap plastic Temu items with all of the corners cut to the point of not working at all then I'd rather pay 4x the price for a product that will maintain a 99.999% success rate well into the next 20 years or so before it has to be thrown out. The Ikea Rodret Zigbee remotes are good for simple on/off buttons, by the way. The I haven't tried the new Matter ones with their fancy wheel and stuff because I just stick them around the place to slap when I need to switch everything off or whatever. I don't need the wheel part, obviously. Who does? If I have to troubleshoot things for a week to get them to show up on the network at all then it's e-waste from the start and I won't bother.
