I Went From Sanding Old Floors to Walking the Red Carpet in 24 Hours!

From renovating my 100-year-old Edwardian house to walking the red carpet at the National Television Awards and getting an exclusive tour INSIDE the Big Brother house… what is my life?! 😂

Welcome back to another chaotic Joel Wood vlog! This week, I’m swapping DIY renovations, sanding wooden floors and being covered in sawdust for a few glamorous days in London attending the NTAs, meeting fellow content creators and going behind the scenes at ITV’s Big Brother!

First, we’re back at my 100-year-old house renovation, where I’m continuing the DIY transformation of my home library. Sanding the original wooden floorboards is proving to be a MUCH bigger job than anticipated, especially when my sander decides to stop working!

Then it’s time to leave the Edwardian house renovation behind and head to London for a whirlwind few days of events, meetings and red carpets. I’m getting ready for the National Television Awards, battling my red carpet nerves and experiencing the glamorous (and slightly chaotic) side of life as a content creator.

And as if that wasn’t enough, I’m getting an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Big Brother UK house! From exploring the iconic Big Brother house to visiting the Diary Room and actually speaking to Big Brother, it’s a pretty surreal experience.

One minute I’m renovating my house alone, the next I’m walking the NTA red carpet. Life really does have a funny way of surprising you!

  1. @Joel Wood I've been researching your designing goals. And, it's kind of Hogwartsish. But, it appears to have a name called Dark Academia. There are a couple of channels I stumbled upon that can give you an idea on how to use this in your home.

I will find those and leave an edit to this comment.

I was wondering whether you had considered growing a well groomed beard and moustache just for fun really. Not that you would have to keep it that way. Possibly taking some new head shots while you have it. It might lead to acting roles opening up with a different look (should you still be interested in them).

  2. Big brother would love to have Joel in the house just to see the drama of him having to deal living around all does people plus he is gorgeous! 😁

  3. I think a day off from the renovation to experience the NTAs and the Big Brother House was justified Joel.
I’m just disappointed that you didn’t get a cheeky shower scene inside the house 😂❤

  4. Oh, I can't believe you're posting a video without including the words My one hundred year old house , or my first time doing something since I broke up. Good for you for moving along.

  5. Dear God! Nearly every minute of that was a nightmare!!! Too many freakin' people! That was just anxiety inducing but I am so proud of you for doing it. I absolutely would not! I'm seriously trying to think of what it would take to get me involved in something like that beyond electric therapy and a personality change.

  6. The floor is looking so good, I have had floor boards in a previous house, but it was rented and the landlord didn't go anything with them so they weren't nice at all. It goes to show how good they can look if you do it properly. Seeing the results on your Instagram, it looks great and all the room is coming together so well.
I'm not sure if you accept messages on your Instagram, as I did send one with an idea relating to your walk-in wardrobe/bathroom changes you mentioned a bit ago on your channel. I did put it on here first, but send it on Instagram as well, just so you didn't miss it. Apologies, if you don't accept messages on there.

  7. I love the juxtaposition and real life of it all. And that you didn't choose to separate them. Cuz this is how it really is for you and the authentic you is what is best. So glad things are going so well for you.

  8. That was a cool change from the house vlogs, it’s fun that you’re getting invited to more and more events. 👏 it’s good to take a break like that and just have some fun! 😊

  9. This London getaway was the perfect break, after working your buns off sanding your floors. That's a good way to schedule your time, some heavy duty physical work and some heavy duty hobnobbing with the celebrities at a posh event. 😂 Way to go, Joel. 👍

  10. Joel, dressed dapperly in your tuxedo, you looked like you had secured the coveted role of James Bond 007!!! You looked Hollywood handsome! I 'm thrilled that so many incredible work opportunities continue to come your way. I feel that 2027 is going to be your breakout year when you will secure a very visible TV role. When it happens, please continue this vlog in some manner. Wishing you continued success!

  11. I watch every video, but has this guy mentioned if his Edwardian home has a basement? Do Edwardian homes even have them?…….Basements are good for two things, ghosts and spiders……………….

  12. You can search up a color wheel online to help you pick out complimentary colors for your house! And you may feel nervous but you don't show it, well done! I could Never with all those people at the red carpet & in the BB house. Too peopley lol

  13. One of my favorite color combinations is scarlet red with a dark peacock/teal green/blue. I’d suggest a carbide scraper for detailing the edges of the floorboards.

  14. The main reason those two colours (the chair and headboard) work well with one another is because they have a similar undertone. You'd be amazed what can actually work together when you delve into colour theory.
