I’m 55. How I Style My Mid-Century & Vintage 35㎡ Apartment | Living Alone in Tokyo

Hi, I’m Cherry. Welcome to Cherry’s Solo Life in Japan.
I’ve been enjoying my solo life in Tokyo since my divorce 15 years ago.

In today’s video, I’m giving you a tour of my 35㎡ apartment and sharing my personal interior design rules. People often say you should avoid bold colors in small spaces and stick to white or beige, but I don’t care about those standard theories! I love surrounding myself with vibrant colors, mid-century furniture, vintage posters, and my favorite guitars.

I’ll also show you how I use lighting to create different zones in a single room, bake some simple homemade bread, and take a quick trip to Akihabara.

I don’t let age or “normal” standards limit me. I’m 55, and my home is my castle where I can spread my wings and fly freely. I hope this video inspires you to decorate your space exactly the way you love!

  2. my room is tied together by sage natural green, white and a theme of strawberries, like a cozy cottage 😊and collages I made with pictures of my loved ones, posters of things I love. I wish I could skype you to show you 😄 it took me a bit of time to get my space to be as cozy as I wanted it. I admire your boldness and self-expression. 😍 when I watch your videos, I always find it as comforting as home. Rough day at work? I need to see what my cherry pie has post, always bounces back my good mood.

  3. Beautiful apartment that is full of personality. Today all spaces are dull and the same like everything around us. The whole world is turning into colorless hell. You have absolutely amazing sense of style ❤❤❤

  5. The main thing: Be yourself! I am 59 now and still do not let anybody dictate my tastes. And ever have. No being a lemming! Your apartment is iketeru! I think I spotted a light on the wall that is a Lifesaver candy! 👏

  6. Hola Cherry! 🍒 ☺️

  9. Cherry when I think of you and your special living space of course I say かわいい かわいい. And Cherry cooking makes me say おいしい. いけてる is a good word to describe your style Cherry. Life is too short to worry about what others think Cherry. Keep being the unique expression of who you are, so we can keep enjoying watching your colorful solo life in にほん。
BTW when I have been in Japan shopping at Yodobashi Camera Store was amazing. They had everything in only a way that Japan does it.

  10. Dear Cherry, don't worry—Feng Shui doesn't define who you are as a person. Your decor is chosen to suit your taste; every piece has meaning and reflects your personality. I like the design of your apartment. Best regards, Doreen. 🙂

  11. ❤My new song "Cherry" on the "Mister David" album by David R Wellens will be released on September 24. I hope you enjoy it. I so much enjoy your bossa nova café and your VLOGs. I like to be unique and do the things I love. Let me know what you think of the song. You're wonderful for putting yourself openly on these videos, truly inspiring. ❤

  12. Cherry, iketeru ne!

    Cherry’s home, saikou ne!

That “it’s inconsistent, but it’s consistent” made me laugh so much. I know exactly what you mean, words just can’t explain this one so well.

I had never seen what computer keyboards used in Japan look like and mechanical keyboards are a side hobby of mine, I might need to build myself a new toy soon… Hmmm, based on where this idea was born, it might end up full of bright bold colours 🙂

    Have a great week.

  13. Second question my lovely lady friend queen and goddess 💓😘❤ You mentioned Ghibli posters… have you been to the museum or dedicated park featuring Ghiblis incredible animated movies? Thank you again 😊 🐉👸👍♥️🌹😉😘 oh! Cherry Iketeru ne! 😃

  14. Cherry!! Iketeru ne!! I think your apartment is iketeru!! Seriously though.. I love how unique and original you are. You do what you want, how you want with zero care for what anyone else thinks. And that’s inspiring!! Mata ne!!

  15. Hey Cherry how's it going, I would like to try some of that coffee you make, and like all the Star Wars cups, Cherry you place is cool I like how you arrange the apartment, you set up what you like and keeps you happy coming home, plus making bread looked very nice, the heck with the people try to put you down to your place, they wish they can live like you bold and beautiful. take care and be safe out there. 🤘🤘and rock on.
