Is U.V.F: Underground Video Films (2026), a scrappy underground found footage anthology, actually better than the hyper-polished V/H/S/Mixtape? A host who sounds suspiciously like Duke Nukem plays a stack of possibly cursed tapes: a twisty short about a secret livestream, a closet that leads somewhere it absolutely shouldn’t, a kids’ show with something very wrong going on in the background, a hospital that should have stayed closed, and a fake commercial for a nun with a chainsaw. I go through the whole mixed bag, the great stuff and the pointless stuff, and give you a straight answer on whether it beats V/H/S/Mixtape and who should watch it. Spoiler-free.

"Somebody spent months in Blender on mucus" (5:02) is the most loving review line I've heard all month. Calling UVF a dumpster Picasso with last night's spaghetti on it is a perfect pull quote too.
i couldnt even start mixtape. i lasted about 5 minutes maybe before i shut it off. just felt like slop.
Watching a dog take a shit is still better better than VHS Mixtape.
mixtape was a let down. And coming in after Halloween one really sucks because the Halloween one was amazing
Thanks, I didn't have the intention to watch it but your video convinced me it's worth to give it a try. Btw mixtape was so disappointing for me.
I just watched this and had to jump in. The clip about the closet‑to‑another‑world vibe reminded me of the 1975 Turkish horror *Aşk ve Ölüm*—the way they use cramped spaces to build dread is genius. The Duke‑Nukem voice‑over is oddly nostalgic, almost like a VHS tape with a VHS vibe. The footage quality is raw enough to feel authentic, but they still nail the pacing better than most V/H/S cuts. If you’re into the gritty, low‑budget feel of early 2000s grindhouse, this anthology is a solid find.
Can't get any "real" than The Forbidden Files.
00:01 I knew I recognized Tristan Risk 🙂
Only the Jim Henson creature shop and Azathoth segments of V/H/S/ Mixtape were good, the rest was awful and the GWAR foolishness got old real fast imo. The music video was a waste of run-time.
i havent seen UVF, but yes.
Anything is better than vhs mixtape
Anything’s better than mixtape
I just watched Mixtape last night. Decent entry into the series, The Music of Mr. Sze was the standout for me. I really didn't care for the first one – even though Barbara Crampton was in it. Tobias Forge's entry didn't fit for me. It feels like they're rushing them out.
Mixtape was….disappointing.
Yes it had a couple of good segments. But the rest was extremely lo-fi childishness.
Smh….
And I am a fan of the other VHS entries.
UVF….never heard of it.
Thanks to you I will check it out.
Sounds more like what I am a fan of.
