The FGM-148 Javelin leaves its tube before the rocket motor fires. A small launch motor kicks it out, then the flight motor ignites once it’s clear — a soft launch that lets it be fired even from inside a building. The gunner locks the infrared seeker before launch: fire and forget. In top-attack mode it climbs about 150 meters and dives onto the tank’s thin roof, and its tandem warhead uses one charge against reactive armor and a second to penetrate.
