I was introduced to country music by my late mother, a beautiful Foundational Black American woman, born and raised in New Orleans. I mention that because there has always been this misnomer that “Black Americans”don’t listen to or love country music.
Country music was very much a part of my upbringing. It played in our home, and we enjoyed all of the greats.
So when I heard “Jesus and Whiskey,” 🥹 it touched something familiar in me. It is absolutely beautiful.
@KMichelleMusic, you have brought something so soulful, authentic, and deeply rooted to country music. Something that I can listen to with my elders and the babies. I can say without hesitation that our beloved, late Dolly Parton would be extremely proud of you.
