Leica SL3-P: 48 Hours Changed My Mind

Leica SL3-P: 48 Hours to Decide

I got the chance to try the Leica SL3-P for 48 hours before deciding whether I should actually buy it.

Instead of doing a typical camera review, I wanted to take it out and use it the way I would use a camera in real life — walking around, taking photographs, dealing with changing weather, and seeing how quickly I could get comfortable with it.

After a couple of hours, I was already starting to like it. But the big question remained: is the Leica SL3-P worth the money?

And then there was the battery…

I had just 48 hours to figure out whether this was a camera I could see myself owning — or whether I should stick with what I already have.

If you’re considering the Leica SL3-P, I hope this gives you a better idea of what it’s like to actually live with the camera rather than just looking at specifications.

What would you choose — try it or buy it?

  1. "Should I buy this Leica, or upgrade my Hasselblad to the new version?" Man, you've got too much money! 😂

Once again, great video. I prefer the shot where you can see the flowers a bit, rather than having them all blurred out.

And I hope you didn't break your back carrying that massive power bank! 😂

  2. I‘ve been using a Leica CL (also L-mount, but APS-C) for a couple of years. In the end, I decided to sell it and switch to Canon. One major reason: battery life.

  3. Return of course, they lose value pretty fast and are a hard sell second hand. Leica should stick to making rangefinder cameras, that's their forte.

  4. Your 'Profiles' issue is simple user error. You need to go into manage profiles > save > … for it to remember a profile. It's annoying before you know but it works ok.

  5. I have an Sl2. The user profile set up was annoying at first, but once I got the logic of it, it has been quite superb, and doesn't change when it's switched off. I use 2x SCL4 batteries and 1 x SCL6 battery and they easily last a day.
