I feel like Hollywood is about making money, and they'll produce whatever will make them money. This means, we as a black community have to love all the shades we come in including darker shades. If we only started supporting films that featured dark-skinned women, Hollywood would start to feature more dark-skinned women. I think that's why they promote dark-skinned men, because we as a community support dark-skinned men. It starts with us. And I agree with another comment, we should support more Nollywood movies and work together across diaspora. We are so powerful when we come together. Look at the success of the black panther, and how successful Ryan Coogler films are.
The model point had many bad faith yes but one was a valid point that white people prefer a certain type of black look for dark skin too which is also true

Amandla and Halle are Black…biracial isn’t a race. Mixed isn’t a seperate race. Mixed race is a descriptor not a supérate category . Not “Mixed” the racial group. Invalidating someone’s identity doesn’t help remedy colorism…you speak as if that’s a separate racial group and it’s not. The problem is that it’s white peoples preferred type of Black and THATS the problem. Thats wrong
Also they drew Black people with dark skin tones in comics during that time for differentiation. It was white people drawing it and needed to make it clear. Now it should still be honored but it wasn’t some explicit choice bc of racial awareness. They were white dudes.
And mixed race isn’t contradictory to brown or even dark skinned. Mixed doesn’t have one look bc mixed isn’t a race. If you think it has a certain look then that’s bias there. One is a background descriptor and one is just skin tone. Thats a misconception so you need to tighten your language bc it can be sloppy.

The Cairo Museum is repainting dark skin Egyptian women YELLOW on all the artwork in the tomb walls. They think yellow is more feminine. The Pharos remain dark (depending on the period)

And Yes I also feel that colorism is getting or has gotten worse tbh which is sad causes like the more we try to break free from colourism the More we see people like this doing this kind of videos and just embracing it feeling comfortable without caring the misinterpretation it might put out there or the danger in might cause towards a certain colour of people, or the fact that we still have to fight and speak out for more representation of darker skin tones on the media and in films. so exhausting. 🤦🏿♀️

We have never seen Suzy truly glammed up on the level of some others. That's why a lot were saying she was not pretty enough. They are comparing someone on a red carpet to her in a role with no make up on. I feel she has the same level of beauty as Jodi Foster. A lot of these celebs we think of as beautiful look very unspectacular without their hair done up and makeup by professionals.

Colorism is CONSTANTLY getting worse for brown skinned VISIBLY, FULLY Black women..I mostly blame Black men.

I've noticed that a certain age demographic calls anyone who isn't biracial or bleached darkskinned and they're not aware of how damaging that is to narrow us down to either being half white or not . We are the Earth's rainbow and that should be acknowledged. I'm constantly correcting my kids. I was literally the darkest female in my family growing up and you know what? I never realized it until I was like 40 because colorism didn't exist in our family. My 1st cousins are biracial and their children multi racial and it never came up. I became aware of shades of skin outside of my family but I believe that my family life is why being called a black b here and there in life never, EVER, hurt me or gave me a complex about my dark skin but I'd pop you about that b word!😂😂
Another darkskin black woman that I miss seeing is Nbushe Wright who played in the first “Blade” movie opposite Wesley Snipes. I loved that movie and she was a stunning actress. I think we as Black people have to simply start boycotting our own films. I’ve been saying this for years because I am tired of them, leaving out dark skin black women and even brown skin black women, but they always cast dark skin black men in everything.
I guess you missed the women that were chosen for the Dutch version of the colored purple😅
To be clear, there are dark skin women in the Netherlands.
