Sam Palmisano says the AI boom is built on long-cycle bets in data centers, chips and energy, even as AI software changes at breakneck speed. If adoption slows or cheaper Chinese open-source models gain traction, Big Tech may have to rethink the spending plans behind today’s AI race.

This dumbass is saying "I haven't read them" despite being integral to the AI bubble… yet he gives future predictions on AI being huge. GTFO
I hate you guys
So… $200B a year for the next 10 years? Is the private equity pool that big? The big VC firms are wanting these companies to IPO so they can cash-out NOW. None of them see this as a sustainable path, regardless of any projected ROI (which is looking increasingly small).
It’s nice to hear someone rationally talk about ai
Imagine approaching the time when all of human kind, can be elevated. Yet the people capable of ushering it in, still want to maintain elevated status over the elevated. Seems narrow in thought. Maybe AI can find the solution, the one solution that remains just out of human reach. One can hope 🤍
IBM and the Holocaust: The Strategic Alliance between Nazi Germany and America's Most Powerful Corporation is a book by investigative journalist and historian Edwin Black which documents the strategic technology services rendered by US-based multinational corporation International Business Machines (IBM) and its German and other European subsidiaries for the government of Adolf Hitler from the beginning of the Third Reich through to the last day of the regime, at the end of World War II when the US and Germany were at war with each other.

Plan B is pickle ball courts, what else are you going to do with those idiotic American data centers when everybody is using local AI models. 😂
Too bad they can't make China's AI models illegal, lol, China has always stolen intellectual property, they don't care, and now they are giving back. Free open source open weight local AI — just coincidentally will CRUSH the AI bubble but payback is fair play
Datacenters can already be reused for cat videos and porn. Meanwhile we are all doing Local AI, buh bye, my data is private
United scammers of america …. Ai just makes the trash visible … in education, finance, technology… the trash was there … you just don’t see it yet
2:15 data centers taking 3 to 5 years coming online is not the concern. The concern is that the chips are outdated in 3 to 5 years. So large data center builds do not make sense because by the time you built it, you will need to rebuild it all again.
Estimated 1.65 trillion US$ off book. Add that to almost 2 trillion on book by the end of 2026. And payments of capital sum plus interest on that from Open AI and Anthropic start becoming due later this year.
Payments amounting to billions a month.
elon musk and the magat trash in office are domestic traitors
3:31 can you remind me what happened with the original MOU of $100B between NVDA and OAI last year? Or Stargate? Or Softbank deals? How many more MOU cycle are we expecting?
Don't forget that control over the global market might mean more data for the chinese models to train off of, which feeds into their flywheel of developing higher quality intelligence in a potential snowball of market dominance.
Are these deals or an understanding?
What the mainstream media isn't talking about is they are using AI to scrub the internet archives and limiting your access to historical data.
If they replace all the workers who will buy their products?
Open source + locally generated (non-cloud) AI = data centres are already redundant.
IBM has been on the wrong side of future technology for a long time – they are the last person to ask about this
If you want to know why the rich get richer while everyone else struggles, just read the book The Reality Inversion by Theo Voss. It is all laid out right there.
Just remember, we throw around 100's of billions on technology that doesn't have a clear ROI, but there is no money to have meaningful investment to help those in poverty. Richer get richer is the plan, same as always.
I was at IBM when he was the big boss. He was not a visionary and was a follower of trends, long after they were established elsewhere. They were also caught billing future next year sales in the current year to cook the books.
when it rains you must buy umbrella
Only one company has a chance of surviving the blowout thats amazon the rest will self destruct
lol asking IBM how to invest in future may not be the best idea
At least I’m happy most people seems to finally understand this bubble will pop in the most extreme way we have ever see.
Plan B run for it.
ITS IBM typewriters to now they are still here that’s saying something. NYSE
base44 is stupid
This was by far one of the best tapes I’ve ever heard on it
tech make 1 to 30, AI make 1 to 60…. there is no reason to invest in AI that make half the returns…
The boom needs a "B"?
The main catch AI comes with, is the price of human extinction and genocide in our near future. Creating an 'entertainment machine' that produces slop everyone hates at the price of the maintaining of human existence seems completely insane. This is an economic and biological zero-sum gain for the general population of the entire world. It only benefits a few dozen billionaires. The rest of us are all supposed to starve and live in an open-air minimum-security prison, constantly watched by Flock cameras, while we keep one had on our wallets and phones. Do you really want to know the future of humanity under AI? Imagine a boot, stomping on a human face, forever.
Economy is cooked y'all 😢
At least tulips could be eaten
Boom❌
Bust✅
3:25 Important point – this AI investent boom has an important time dimension. Even if AI delivers the value in the way expected, to the magnitude expected, if it takes longer than expected (not 1-2 years, but 2-5+ years) – then investment values will need a savage rerating.
Plan A should really have been to not have AI in the first place, but watever!
Lol I love how 'memorandum of understanding' will be eternal phrase going forward.
